Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certification or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner—Board Certified certification.
  • Acute care certification if applying as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Eligibility for Pennsylvania licensure.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration certification or ability to obtain it.
  • Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, team-based environment.
Responsibilities
  • Assist interventional cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Participate alongside physicians in coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention, peripheral vascular interventions, and other advanced catheter-based therapies.
  • Assist with vascular access management and procedural workflow.
  • Support procedural documentation and communication with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in patient monitoring and assessment during procedures.
  • Facilitate efficient patient throughput and procedural coordination.
  • Conduct focused cardiovascular assessments and histories.
  • Review diagnostic studies, laboratory data, and imaging.
  • Assist with procedural planning and patient preparation.
  • Educate patients and families regarding procedures, risks, benefits, and expectations.
  • Coordinate care with referring physicians and consulting services.
  • Evaluate patients following diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Manage vascular access sites and post-procedural recovery.
  • Monitor for complications and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding medications, activity restrictions, and ongoing cardiovascular management.
  • Work closely with attending physicians, fellows, nurses, technologists, and ancillary staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical protocol development.
  • Support academic and educational activities within the Division of Cardiology.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience in interventional cardiology, cardiology, critical care, emergency medicine, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular medicine, or cardiac catheterization laboratory settings.
  • Experience managing complex cardiovascular patients.
  • Familiarity with invasive cardiovascular procedures and post-procedural care.
