- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program or a medical assistant program that includes phlebotomy is required, or a minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
- ASCP or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Perform phlebotomy and related specimen collection for inpatients and outpatients across all age groups for a variety of laboratory tests.
- Obtain blood specimens through venipuncture and capillary methods, as well as urine specimens, from patients of all age groups for laboratory tests and procedures used in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Provide specimen collection information and test preparation information to nursing staff, patients, and family members as appropriate.
- ASCP or equivalent certification.
