Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry with a general contractor.
  • Experience in water/wastewater, energy projects, and civil infrastructure construction.
  • A university degree or technology diploma in Civil Engineering, or a combination of education and industry experience.
Responsibilities
  • Develop successful relationships with clients, consultants, architects, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Manage projects according to company processes and procedures to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Mentor Project Coordinators and guide their career progression.
  • Support the National Business Development team and assist the Construction Manager with project pursuit schedules and final submissions.
  • Participate in negotiating contracts with owners and their agents.
  • Develop construction budgets and conduct regular cost projection reviews.
  • Prepare and update cost-effective project plans and schedules.
  • Compile and submit initial project budgets to the Construction Manager.
  • Select suppliers and subcontractors and obtain quotations.
  • Negotiate and clarify scopes of work with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Manage the submittals and approvals process.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Set up and orderly manage project administration files.
  • Control document distribution for drawings and specifications.
  • Implement and update quality assurance and quality control processes on individual projects.
  • Ensure progress payments are received in a timely manner.
  • Quote and negotiate change orders.
  • Attend, lead, and prepare for project start-up, progress, and close-out meetings.
  • Manage project close-out.
  • Identify construction risks and opportunities and assess site conditions, subcontractor availability, and labour availability.
  • Manage payment requisitions and change management among the company, client, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Administer construction contracts properly.
  • Emphasize site safety in accordance with regulatory requirements and the corporate Health and Safety Policy.
  • Have overall responsibility for the success of water/wastewater projects typically valued at $50–100 million.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional designation such as Professional Engineer or Gold Seal.
