Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least five years of experience in the commercial construction industry, overseeing all aspects of ground-up projects in healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors.
  • Ability to lead and supervise teams, schedule and supervise the work of a multi-member team, and manage multiple teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • A valid Construction OSHA 30 card, with recertification every five years, or the ability to renew it.
  • Proficiency in project reporting software and Microsoft Office, and ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Experience running all aspects of large commercial projects from inception through profitable completion, including ground-up projects, interior renovations, finish work, and relocation and replacement work for projects valued at $2 million or more.
  • A high school diploma is the stated minimum; a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or an associate's degree from a vocational school is a plus.
  • A minimum of five to ten years of on-the-job experience.
  • Ability to travel to various job sites, with travel up to 75%.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to communicate with team members, Project Management, and customers.
  • Computer literacy and basic computer knowledge, including experience using Microsoft Office and Procore.
  • Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed to meet project deadlines and work night shifts.
  • Ability to perform physical work at construction sites, including crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, using construction personnel hoists, and negotiating work areas under construction.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Enforce safety compliance, including OSHA requirements and Marand safety plans and policies, and advocate for safety as the top priority.
  • Supervise field construction to ensure the project is completed in accordance with design, budget, schedule, and customer objectives.
  • Conduct weekly on-site meetings with subcontractors, vendors, and others concerning schedule, safety, and field performance.
  • Enforce compliance with project procedures, safety program requirements, and work rules.
  • Promote worker health and safety by enforcing company, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Prepare and distribute field reports promptly, including daily superintendent and safety reports.
  • Complete punch list items within the customer's requirements and project budget, using Procore for punch list management.
  • Monitor and direct subcontractor progress and ensure adequate manpower to meet the project schedule and customer expectations.
  • Prepare subcontractor work schedules as needed and provide input to the Project Manager on project construction schedules and updates.
  • Verify layouts or check subcontractor layouts, and establish initial control lines and grades.
  • Respond clearly to subcontractor questions about project documents and their work, provide documentation, and coordinate with the Construction Manager as appropriate.
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, including logistics, means and methods, bid and scope reviews, and project estimates.
  • Maintain an up-to-date set of contract documents on site.
  • Ensure subcontractors maintain record drawings during construction.
  • Organize, establish, and maintain the on-site field office, including its cleanliness and signage.
  • Communicate with the Construction Manager about financial issues, safety, construction progress, labor issues, material problems, quality, and code issues.
  • Coordinate and work with Project Managers and other personnel.
  • Manage and train other superintendent levels and serve as a mentor.
  • Coordinate with other Superintendents assigned to larger projects.
  • Continue education in OSHA and safety, means and methods, codes, management skills, and new technology.
  • Maintain current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Maintain current knowledge of permit processes in communities where work is performed and communicate changes to the office.
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness to Marand standards.
