Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience is required, including at least 3 years in the government contracting industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Defense Contract Audit Agency compliance requirements is required.
  • Experience managing government contracts, including Firm-Fixed-Price, Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee, and Time-and-Materials structures, is required.
  • Experience with indirect rate modeling, incurred cost submissions, and other Federal Acquisition Regulation-related reporting is required.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems is required.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and data visualization skills are required.
  • Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounts and subsidiary ledgers and manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger, while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Defense Contract Audit Agency requirements.
  • Lead the monthly and annual close processes, including preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, perform variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure consistent coding and classification throughout the company.
  • Partner with department leaders to ensure financial accuracy and operational alignment.
  • Analyze financial data for budget variances and provide management with insight into the drivers of significant variances.
  • Supervise the payroll function to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely processing for all employees.
  • Review payroll registers, tax filings, and adjustments before submission.
  • Maintain segregation of duties between Human Resources and Payroll.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on onboarding, terminations, leave programs, and benefits changes affecting payroll.
  • Oversee payroll reconciliations, including taxes, garnishments, and benefit carrier invoices.
  • Work with leadership to develop, implement, and monitor financial and operational controls.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls across accounting and payroll processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, federal, state, and local tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for accounting and payroll functions.
  • Develop accounting and finance policies and procedures.
  • Support preparation of indirect rate models, incurred cost submissions, and other government-mandated reporting requirements.
  • Monitor changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
