About Virtru:
While the rest of the security industry obsesses over locking data down to prevent it from being lost or stolen, we're doing something fundamentally different at Virtru. We're setting data free so that you can intentionally share it with others, but without sacrificing security, privacy, or control.
We've created both a suite of powerful data protection applications and an open platform that's sparking an ecosystem of innovation. Through the Trusted Data Format (TDF) open standard, we're not just protecting data; we're creating a new paradigm where security enables sharing rather than preventing it.
Think of us as the Android of data protection: a robust platform with an open core that developers and partners can build upon, coupled with our own best-in-class applications that showcase what's possible when you reimagine security from the ground up.
Backed by Iconiq Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, Foundry Capital, and Tiger Global, we're helping Fortune 500 companies and government agencies discover that true data security means having the freedom to share, collaborate, and innovate — without compromise.

Virtru and Pexip have launched a joint solution that applies continuous, attribute-based access control (ABAC) to scheduling and joining classified video meetings. It links Pexip Secure Meetings, built on the self-hosted Pexip Infinity platform, with the Virtru Data Security Platform. Traditional video teleconferencing leaves a gap between sending an invite and starting a meeting. Clearances expire and personnel rotate, but static invite lists do not reflect those changes. Virtru acts as the policy decision point, checking identity attributes and access policies. Pexip enforces its decisions in real time, both when meetings are scheduled and when participants join. Virtru also logs every decision for audit. The capability is available to qualifying defence, intelligence, federal civilian, and allied organisations.
Virtru and Pexip partner to add Zero Trust access control to video meetings. Joint solution extends attribute-based access control to meeting scheduling and join time - closing a gap in Zero Trust collaboration for defense and coalition programs. October 26, 2026 09:05 ET | Source: Virtru WASHINGTON and OSLO, Norway, Oct. 26, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Virtru, the leader in data-centric security, and Pexip, a provider of secure, customizable video collaboration for defense and government organizations, today announced a joint solution that enforces continuous, attribute-based access control (ABAC) to scheduling and joining classified video meetings. The partnership connects Pexip Secure Meetings, built on the self-hosted Pexip Infinity platform, with the Virtru Data Security Platform - extending policy-driven control of classification, releasability, and need-to-know to a meeting layer that has historically run on static invite lists. Traditional Video Teleconferencing Security (VTC) leaves a critical gap between the moment a meeting invite is sent and the moment a meeting begins. Clearances expire, personnel rotate, and security holds are applied, yet calendar-based invite lists carry no mechanism to honor those changes before participants dial in. Virtru and Pexip together solve this problem by enforcing access policy at both scheduling and join time against real-time entitlements from the customer's authoritative identity provider, turning static invitations into continuously governed access. In the joint architecture, Virtru serves as the policy decision point, evaluating identity attributes and access policies held in the systems customers already use and control. Pexip provides the secure video platform and acts as the policy enforcement point, requesting decisions from Virtru and applying them to conferences and participants in real time. This separation of roles aligns with the Federal Zero Trust Architecture (NIST SP 800-207) and the DoW Zero Trust architecture and roadmap. Ongoing Governance at the Meeting Layer The joint platform brings Zero Trust and ABAC to the meeting layer through a separation-of-duties architecture that keeps entitlement data outside the video platform itself: * ABAC for Scheduling Meetings: A Pexip-built Policy Enforcement Point (PEP) queries the Virtru Data Security Platform when an organizer creates a meeting, showing only the classification, releasability, and need-to-know options the meeting organizer is entitled to, while also validating each invitee's entitlements. * ABAC for Joining Meetings: The Pexip PEP requests a new policy decision from the Virtru Data Security Platform when a participant joins and enforces the result in real time. Status changes that occurred after the meeting was scheduled, including clearance suspensions, program rotations, and PERSEC holds, can affect whether access is granted. * One Policy, Enforced Everywhere: The Virtru Data Security Platform acts as the central policy decision point (PDP) for both scheduling and joining meetings. The same policies governing clearance, program assignment, and need-to-know across the agency automatically govern VTC access, eliminating per-meeting access rule maintenance. * Decision-Level Audit Evidence: The Virtru Data Security Platform logs every user's scheduling authorization, invite validation, join decision, meeting attributes, evaluated entitlements, and timestamps - providing continuous evidence of Zero Trust posture without retrospective reconstruction. "A classified conversation is data, generated in real time, attended by people with different clearances, coalition affiliations, and need-to-know assignments that can shift hour to hour. In concept, this is no different than any other data object; it needs granular access controls evaluated continuously against users' entitlements," said Will Peppo, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Virtru. "Pexip is a great partner to bring that discipline to the meeting layer. The same attribute-based enforcement Virtru customers already trust for documents and messages, now applied where mission decisions actually happen." "Defense and government organizations need to collaborate across agencies and coalitions while maintaining strict control over sensitive information," said Jordan Owens, CTO Americas at Pexip. "Pexip is built for these controlled environments, with a flexible platform that can integrate identity and access policies into the meeting experience. Together with Virtru, we are helping customers collaborate securely while retaining control over who can participate, at all times." The capability is available for qualifying defense, intelligence, federal civilian, and allied organizations. Learn more at virtru.com/partners/technology/pexip. Glasswall announces partnership with Virtru to advance Zero Trust Data protection. Sep 22, 2026, 08:30 ET WASHINGTON, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Glasswall, a leader in file protection, today announced their partnership with Virtru, a global leader in data-centric security and privacy, combining complementary technologies to strengthen the protection of sensitive data. The partnership combines Glasswall's deterministic Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) technology with Virtru's Data Security Platform to help ensure files are safe before they are accessed, shared, or moved across trust boundaries. As government, defense, and enterprise organizations advance Zero Trust architectures, controlling access to information is only part of the challenge. Files received through authorized channels and authenticated users can still contain embedded malware, zero-day exploits, malformed structures, and other potentially dangerous content. Glasswall addresses this risk by treating files as untrusted and reconstructing them according to known-good file specifications rather than relying solely on signatures or traditional threat detection. Virtru provides persistent data protection, encryption, and policy-based access controls that help organizations maintain control over sensitive information wherever it travels. Together, the technologies address two critical elements of data-centric security: ensuring the file itself can be trusted and controlling who is authorized to access it. In the joint architecture, Glasswall serves as the policy enforcement point and Virtru serves as the policy decision point, a design aligned with the Federal Zero Trust Architecture (NIST SP 800-207), the DoW Zero Trust architecture and roadmap, and ACP-240 - a Five Eyes interoperability standard defining the Zero Trust Data Format (ZTDF). "Organizations need to be able to trust their data at every stage of its journey, not only who can access it, but whether the content itself is safe," said Sam Hutton, Chief Growth Officer at Glasswall. "Our partnership with Virtru brings together two complementary approaches to data-centric security, helping customers share sensitive information with greater confidence while advancing Zero Trust across mission-critical environments." "Sanitizing a file and moving it across a trust boundary has traditionally meant losing cryptographic control of the file," said Will Peppo, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Virtru. "With this integration, the file is rebuilt and re-encrypted with its policy-based protections remaining intact. Mission owners no longer have to choose between a file that is safe and a file that is still under their control." The combined capabilities are particularly relevant for organizations exchanging sensitive information across organizational and trust boundaries, including government agencies, defense organizations, mission partners, contractors, and other highly regulated environments. Potential applications include: * Secure mission partner and coalition information sharing * Protection of sensitive government and defense data * Zero Trust data-layer security * Secure contractor and supply-chain collaboration * Cross-organizational file exchange * Protection of files entering sensitive workflows and mission systems The partnership reflects a shared approach to extending security beyond traditional perimeter and access controls, helping organizations establish trust in the content itself while maintaining persistent protection as sensitive information is accessed, shared, and used. About Glasswall Glasswall is a cybersecurity company that protects government agencies and commercial organizations from malicious files with its Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) technology. Unlike traditional detection-based methods, Glasswall employs a Zero Trust approach that removes malware's ability to exist in files altogether. An acknowledged file protection innovator, the company is investing heavily in research and development to deliver new approaches to understanding, predicting, and mitigating file-based threats. Glasswall's CDR is required as a content filter in Cross Domain Solutions under the NSA's Raise the Bar guidance, and Glasswall's CDR is deployed as a file filter in accredited CDS trusted by the world's most sophisticated security establishments. Mattermost, an open-source collaboration platform for defence and mission-critical teams, has partnered with Virtru, a data-centric security firm, to deliver Zero Trust Data Format technology for national security operations. The integration enables organisations to apply cryptographic file protection within Mattermost workflows, supporting the Department of War's Zero Trust Strategy and CMMC requirements. When users upload files in Mattermost, they can classify them and apply handling restrictions. Virtru then wraps the file in a ZTDF-protected container, enabling encryption and policy-based access controls that persist as data moves across environments. The architecture aligns with DoD Zero Trust principles and standards recognised by the intelligence community. The integration is available now and will be demonstrated at Black Hat USA and DoDIIS Worldwide Conference in August 2026.
