Manhattan Associates has unveiled Sightline, a new capability within its ActivePlanning software that explains AI-driven supply chain decisions in plain business language. The tool reveals the reasoning behind forecasts, recommendations and inventory decisions, from individual order lines to entire networks. Sightline provides real-time, in-application analysis of factors including forecast inputs, safety stock decisions, vendor minimums, lead times and promotional effects. This eliminates the need for planners to use external tools like Microsoft Excel to understand planning logic, turning hours of investigation into seconds. The capability introduces configurable views tailored to how planners work, whether by role, promotion or activity. Manhattan Associates says Sightline addresses the "black box" problem of advanced AI forecasting, giving practitioners immediate visibility into why the system makes specific decisions.
