Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited dental school.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of the Practice Management System, Microsoft Office Suite, and accounting software.
  • An unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Ohio, except where not applicable to commissioned National Health Service Corps or Public Health Service officers.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Ohio Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
  • Medicare and Medicaid provider number.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges.
Responsibilities
  • Examine individuals requesting care, diagnose dental and oral conditions, prescribe and provide or direct appropriate treatment, and refer individuals for specialty consultation or treatment according to approved clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Record patient-dentist transactions and complete referrals, data collection instruments, and other required records or paperwork.
  • Educate individuals about oral-health conditions and promote oral-health disease prevention.
  • Serve on the dental staff and other center committees as assigned.
  • Prepare specific reports requested by the Dental Director.
  • Assist with continuing education, on-the-job training, and staff orientation as requested.
  • Design, develop, and implement Dental Department policies, protocols, and procedures as directed by the Dental Director and in compliance with accepted professional standards.
  • Provide technical assistance and health education to the community as requested.
  • Participate in short- and long-term program planning for the Dental Department and agency, including development of goals and objectives.
  • Provide consultation to the Executive Director and Board of Directors regarding dental and oral-health issues in the absence of the Dental Director.
  • Travel when necessary to fulfill the corporation’s needs and attend meetings as necessary to represent the corporation or Dental Department.
  • Assist in coordinating and integrating the corporation’s dental programs and services with other corporate programs and services for patients.
  • Maintain full compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and center rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures governing dentistry and clinical dental care, including personnel issues, workplace safety, public health, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in the corporation’s recruitment and retention activities as necessary.
  • Perform other related or necessary tasks directed by the Dental Director to achieve organizational and programmatic goals and objectives.
