Requirements
  • Two years of current advanced life support (ALS) experience.
  • Current Critical Care certification.
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record, with the ability to safely operate a vehicle in daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather conditions.
  • Maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within one year of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care to patients during transport under the direction of the Program Medical Director and referring and/or receiving physician, in accordance with Critical Care policies, protocols, and standards of care.
  • Autonomously evaluate critically ill or injured patients across pediatric through adult age groups; provide therapeutic and emergency interventions; and prepare patients for transport by ground or helicopter from hospitals or accident scenes.
  • Maintain clinical proficiency across the Critical Care Division's scope of practice, including care for patients with neurological, cardiac, pediatric, obstetrical, and traumatic emergencies and other patient populations transported by the division.
  • Maintain clinical competency in critical care procedures and equipment, including ventilators, IV pumps, dopplers, chest tubes, hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices, Impella cardiac assist devices, transcutaneous and transvenous pacers, external ventricular drains, and advanced airway management.
