About the company

SAIF is a not-for-profit, state-chartered insurer that provides workers’ compensation coverage for Oregon employers. It writes policies, manages claims for injured workers, and offers workplace safety services to reduce accidents, with a mission to keep coverage broad and affordable. Policy quotes and management are available through an online portal, and SAIF provides free safety resources and training through its network of about 10 regional offices, all supported from its Salem headquarters. The organization is governed by a five-member board appointed by the Governor. SAIF differentiates itself by its not-for-profit, public-charter structure, statewide safety programs, and emphasis on accessibility and cost containment rather than profit. Its goal is to improve workplace safety while making workers’ compensation coverage easy to obtain and affordable for Oregon employers.
