Requirements

  • Excellent computer skills are necessary and the ability to learn Zum’s dashboard and software
  • Must have experience of different levels of work at a school bus yard including experience of routing and having managed more than 50 school bus operations
  • The ability to communicate effectively and understandably, both orally and in writing; take instructions or direction from members of the team including yard staff, drivers, and ops managers
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment; pay attention to detail; handle stress; manage multiple duties or assignments; sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods of time
  • To possess excellent interpersonal skills, good problem solving and analytical skills necessary to gather and interpret data, have good organizational skills and be able to prioritize work
Responsibilities
  • Be a back up to the dispatcher
  • Work with the Engineering and Product Team to prepare and improve school bus routes
  • Work cross functionally with internal teams and external customer staff to maintain the routes during the school year keeping user experience, efficiency and accuracy in mind
  • Will learn and work with Zum routing and scheduling software to improve the accuracy of routing system
  • Work with the operations team in establishing reports to measure operating metrics such as driver hours, miles and on-time performance
  • Meets with school officials as needed to keep routes current and accurate
  • Critically analyze daily schedules in support of on-time performance, efficient routing, and productivity objectives
  • Monitor demand throughout the day and adjust run times and breaks as needed. Communicate run-time adjustments to dispatchers in a timely manner
  • Run appropriate internal reports throughout the day and at the end of the day and week to check for issues such as conflicts and delays and make necessary corrections
  • Provide timely feedback to supervisor/manager on issues and recommendations for improvement
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
