Ontic is a global supplier and maintenance partner in the aerospace industry that focuses on providing established, certified Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) aircraft parts. It buys product lines from OEMs and then sells those parts and offers related services to major aerospace and defense customers, helping them keep aircraft in service longer. The company’s products are ready-to-use certified components with a lifecycle support model, ensuring parts meet safety and performance standards for ongoing operations. Compared with competitors, Ontic emphasizes owning and managing mature part lines from OEMs rather than developing new components, plus a long history (dating back to 1956) and a network of strategic partnerships that support reliable availability and aftermarket support. Ontic’s goal is to be the dependable source of proven parts and life-cycle services that enable aerospace leaders to sustain fleets and extend aircraft lifetimes.

The acquisition of the UK-based compass manufacturer – a market leader with over 60 years of experience – brings a portfolio of proprietary products and a strong global customer base into the Ontic family.
Ontic acquires compass specialist SIRS Navigation. The acquisition of the Kent-based precision magnetic compass manufacturer, adds a trusted brand to Ontic's expansive portfolio of critical aviation components. September 10, 2026 Ontic, producer of critical civil and military aircraft parts, has today announced its acquisition of SIRS Navigation, a business specialising in the design and manufacture of high quality, precision standby magnetic compasses for the global aviation industry. Based in Kent, England, SIRS Navigation has designed, manufactured and supported high-quality magnetic compasses for over 60 years. Recognised as a specialist manufacturer of standby aviation compasses, the company's products are installed on virtually every major commercial and business aviation platform, spanning fixed-wing and rotorcraft, with tens of thousands of units in service worldwide. The company supplies compasses into OEM production lines and provides replacement units directly to operators and distributors across the aftermarket. It also operates a comprehensive 24/7 global product support network to ensure fast resolution of logistical and technical issues for operators worldwide. Its compass designs, originally acquired from GE Aerospace, have been continuously improved in-house, to develop a lightweight, efficient compass that is the global market leader in its field. SIRS Navigation offers custom design capability to meet individual customer and platform requirements. Why the strategic acquisition should ensure continuity. The acquisition of SIRS Navigation reflects Ontic's commitment to investing in specialist aerospace businesses with strong intellectual property and embedded platform presence, ensuring continuity, growth and long-term success for their customers and people. JC Gallagher, Ontic's new CEO said: "SIRS Navigation has built an outstanding reputation over more than half a century - a market-leading position, a loyal customer base and a brand that is trusted across the industry. This acquisition is about providing continuity and long-term commitment to its customers, while giving the business a home where it can continue to thrive. "SIRS Navigation is joining a global business with 10 sites, more than 1,900 employees and decades of experience manufacturing and supporting critical aviation components. This gives SIRS Navigation access to the scale, investment and infrastructure of a much larger aerospace group, without changing what has made the business so successful." Maisie Bylett, Commercial Director, Sirs Navigation said: "This marks an exciting milestone for SIRS Navigation. I am extremely proud of the company history and the accomplishments made as a small company in a challenging sector. Ontic is a strong strategic fit for its business, its people and its customers. "Being part of a global aerospace business, with deep OEM and MRO expertise provides the scale, investment and long-term stability needed to continue to meet the high levels of quality, service and reliability our customers expect. This new chapter will build on our core values, whilst providing increased scale to support our customers."
Ontic has acquired SIRS Navigation, a Kent-based specialist in precision standby magnetic compasses for aviation. SIRS Navigation, with over 60 years of heritage, supplies compasses installed in tens of thousands of aircraft globally, serving both original equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket across commercial and business aviation platforms. The company maintains a 24/7 global support network and offers bespoke compass solutions. Its designs were originally acquired from GE Aerospace and have been continuously refined in-house. Newly appointed Ontic CEO JC Gallagher highlighted SIRS Navigation's market-leading position. The acquisition aligns with Ontic's strategy of investing in specialist aerospace firms with established intellectual property. Ontic faces integration challenges, including regulatory compliance and operational alignment, whilst managing competition from established players like L3Harris Technologies.
Ontic, CFS Aero join forces on engine support. Ontic and UK-based engine maintenance specialist CFS Aeroproducts (CFS Aero) have formed a partnership to pursue engine and auxiliary power unit (APU) licensing, transition and support opportunities in the global aerospace market. The agreement combines Ontic's product licensing and lifetime support expertise with CFS Aero's engine and APU maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities, offering original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) a route to transfer mature engine programmes while focusing investment on next-generation propulsion technologies. CFS Aero brings more than 30 years of experience in engine and APU repair, overhaul, testing and engineering support, while Ontic has transitioned more than 200 aerospace product lines from OEMs under its established licensing model. The companies said the partnership is intended to ensure long-term support for legacy engine and APU programmes that will remain in service for decades while enabling manufacturers to prioritise future aircraft technologies. Ontic signs lease on new Weston, Florida facility. Ontic has strengthened its manufacturing footprint with the signing of a long-term lease for a 100,000 ft^2 facility in Weston, Florida, its tenth site worldwide. Located less than 20 miles from the company's Miramar facility, which opened in 2025, the new site in Weston will provide additional capacity for original equipment (OE) production, while Miramar remains focused on maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) activities. The expansion supports Ontic's growing portfolio of licensed product lines and increasing demand for manufacturing space as the company continues to acquire new licences. The move follows Ontic's recent investment in a new MRO facility in Tewkesbury, UK, which is expected to become fully operational by September 2026. Chief Operating Officer Brian Sartain said the Weston facility would provide the capacity needed to support future growth while maintaining the availability and reliability customers expect. The site will undergo significant upgrades ahead of operations beginning in 2027.
