Requirements
  • OSHA 30 Construction Certification is required.
  • The ability to understand and apply United States Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1-1 requirements is required.
  • At least 5 years of health and safety experience with health and safety compliance is required, including construction industry experience.
  • A moderate level of information technology skills using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint is required.
  • The ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with co-workers, clients, and agency inspectors is required.
  • The ability to develop and implement efficient and effective procedures is required.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are implemented and that safe practices are adopted.
  • Plan, implement, monitor, and review protective and preventative measures to keep employees safe and minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, incidents, and injuries.
  • Support safety oversight for marine and waterfront construction activities, including barges, crane operations, pile driving, cofferdams, dredging, and over-water work, while ensuring compliance with applicable United States Coast Guard regulations and United States Army Corps of Engineers EM 385 requirements.
  • Communicate with project management staff and the Director of Health and Safety to ensure field safety for jobsites and facilities.
  • Support the Project Manager in developing and implementing the project health and safety program in accordance with client expectations and company policies and procedures.
  • Administer the site health and safety program and advise the Project Manager on health and safety matters associated with the project.
  • Provide leadership for safety personnel assigned to the project.
  • Provide site-specific orientation to company employees and subcontractors working on the project.
  • Lead incident investigations on projects and conduct witness interviews.
  • Coordinate the investigation process with the Project Manager, corporate office, and client.
  • Perform duties in accordance with company health and safety program procedures, policies and procedures, and site-specific health and safety plans.
  • Assist with implementation of the Health and Safety Plan.
  • Conduct daily site assessments and inspections.
  • Report and document incidents and issues related to site safety.
  • Coordinate daily site-wide tasks with the Project Supervisor, addressing safety concerns and resolutions.
  • Ensure that all site training is completed and current.
  • Review and assist with preparation of Activity Hazard Analyses.
  • Assist in implementing the video surveillance safety program, reviewing findings, and coordinating corrective measures with project teams as part of project oversight.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, safety, or health sciences is a plus.
  • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response 40-hour training is preferred.
