  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing.
  • Two years of relevant Registered Nurse experience is required.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas, or immediate eligibility for licensure, is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of employment and before independent patient care.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 90 days of employment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Clinical competence is required.
  • The role requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • The role requires occasional sitting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Visual and hearing acuity, including color vision for perceiving patient skin-color changes and medication and solution colors, is required.
  • The role may involve exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, electric shock, radiant energy, communicable diseases, and blood-borne pathogens.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, direct, and evaluate care for the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
  • Establish the vision, direction, and development of the Cardiovascular service line, including strategies, programs, processes, procedures, and success measures.
  • Coordinate delivery of patient services and maintain an environment conducive to learning.
  • Provide for staff development and evaluation and serve as a patient advocate within the healthcare system.
  • Maintain 24-hour accountability for all facets of nursing activities in the assigned unit.
  • Ensure nursing care meets legal, ethical, institutional, and professional standards.
  • Participate in hospital quality improvement and service excellence programs.
  • Integrate the department into the organization's primary functions and create a collaborative, productive work environment.
  • Monitor patient care for all assigned service lines.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director of the assigned area.
  • Round on patients, investigate incidents and complaints, and perform service recovery when possible.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Plan and provide sufficient qualified and competent staff for the department.
  • Establish work schedules and assignments to ensure coverage, appropriate staffing ratios, and safe, quality patient care within budget guidelines.
  • Ensure completion of employee records, including payroll, performance evaluations, competencies, and personnel action requests.
  • Ensure orientation and continuing education opportunities are provided for department staff.
  • Coordinate and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of department quality improvement processes and maintain quality control programs.
  • Participate in budget planning by recommending personnel, equipment, and space resources.
  • Provide 24-hour leadership accountability through appropriate delegation, sound decision-making, and critical thinking.
  • Function competently in the staff role when necessary.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement programs.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of protected health information.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and report safety concerns.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Prior Nurse Manager experience preferred.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification preferred.
