Requirements
  • Provides engineering analysis, design, and fabrication support for highly technical projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Performs project engineering activities involving planning, directing, and testing of products and projects.
  • Analyzes and interprets complex customer specifications and official industry standards.
  • Develops technical calculations and documentation in accordance with Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) quality systems.
  • Creates or interprets specifications, data sheets, process flow diagrams, 3D models, 2D drawings, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Develops 3D models, drawings, and detailed manufacturing plans.
  • Prepares and checks calculations to verify designs against design requirements.
  • Coordinates with manufacturing and uses reference standards to incorporate Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) into designs.
  • Develops standard part, assembly, and product design documentation.
  • Prepares project-related design deliverables and NQA-1 documentation.
  • Develops project-related conformance documentation, including testing documents, manuals, and plans.
  • Produces detailed technical submittal documents to satisfy quality-tracking requirements.
  • Assists with and writes design change notices, deviation requests, and non-conformance reports.
  • Works with project teams and customers to ensure products conform to customer requirements.
  • Plans design activities, including schedule milestones, review points, and deadlines.
  • Specifies and quotes complex or non-stock items for procurement activities.
  • Develops production travelers using software tools, shop drawings, and weld maps for fabrication.
  • Supports production staff throughout project fabrication.
  • Performs or oversees factory and site acceptance testing.
  • Assists with engineering overhead activities, including bid support, estimating, computer-aided design administration, engineering standards development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Writes technical reports, correspondence, procedures, processes, and process documents.
  • Presents information to customers, clients, and employees in one-on-one and small-group situations.
  • Coordinates and communicates with outside suppliers.
  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets complex calculations, specifications, code requirements, and procedure manuals.
  • Applies mechanical engineering principles, methods, and techniques to technical problems.
  • Uses logical or scientific thinking to address intellectual and practical problems.
  • Uses Microsoft Office and drafting/modeling software.
  • Must be a United States citizen and verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Able to sit, communicate, use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment, and lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to travel for weeks at a time and assist physically with project installation and testing.
Responsibilities
  • Participates in technical reviews and project status meetings and may act as the technical lead.
  • Remains current with design practices, skills, and industry best practices and shares knowledge.
  • Prepares and performs factory and site acceptance testing, including travel to customer facilities.
  • May lead a team of engineers in the design, planning, and execution of a project.
  • May conduct team, group, or individual training on standards or best practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong manufacturing and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) background.
  • Familiarity or experience with the Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) standard.
  • Familiarity or experience with Nuclear Glovebox, Pharmaceutical Isolator, or Pressure Vessel Design.
  • SolidWorks experience or familiarity; SolidWorks is strongly preferred.
