Fortanix brings Confidential AI to Kubernetes and GPUs.

Fortanix brings Confidential AI to Kubernetes and GPUs. Fortanix has announced support for CNCF Confidential Containers (CoCo) within Fortanix Confidential AI. With this step, the data security specialist and pioneer in the field of confidential computing enables organizations to run AI workloads on Kubernetes within hardware-isolated environments, so-called trusted execution environments (TEEs), on confidential CPUs and GPUs. The integration enables companies to retain the speed and agility of containers while sensitive data, AI models, agents and applications remain encrypted and protected during use. This allows organizations to meet strict privacy and compliance requirements, such as data protection legislation and digital sovereignty, without data or intellectual property being visible to the cloud provider or the infrastructure administrator. The need for this technology is underscored by recent research from Fortanix and Atomik Research. It shows that 93 percent of AI administrators understand that traditional encryption does not protect data during actual processing by AI systems. However, only half of respondents can verify whether protection is actually present during AI inference. Fortanix solves this by isolating workloads within TEEs and using 'attestation' to verify the integrity of the environment before keys or data are released. To make Confidential AI possible at enterprise scale, Fortanix is developing open-source plugins for the CoCo standard. This links the Fortanix Confidential Computing Manager and the Fortanix Data Security Manager to Kubernetes workflows. Before a container gains access to data or model weights, the system verifies whether the hardware and software are authentic and unchanged. The solution has, among other things, achieved FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certification and can be deployed as SaaS, on-premise or in fully isolated (air-gapped) environments. The initiative is broadly supported by a large ecosystem of technology and cybersecurity companies. Among others, NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Dell Technologies, HPE, Red Hat, Supermicro and VAST Data are working with Fortanix to accelerate secure AI adoption based on open standards. Fortanix brings confidential AI to Kubernetes with CNCF Confidential Containers support

Fortanix, a data and AI security company, has added support for CNCF Confidential Containers (CoCo) to its Fortanix Confidential AI product. Organisations can now run AI workloads on Kubernetes inside hardware-based Trusted Execution Environments, on confidential CPUs and GPUs. The system verifies each environment before it releases any encryption keys. Fortanix is building open-source CoCo plugins that link its attestation and key management tools. The company says this protects sensitive data and proprietary models from infrastructure operators. It deploys as SaaS, on-premises, or fully air-gapped. A Fortanix and Atomik Research survey found 93% of AI leaders know traditional encryption does not protect data during processing, but only half can fully verify protection during inference. NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Cisco, and Red Hat are among the partners backing the effort.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Fortanix(R) Inc., a global leader in data and AI security and pioneer of Confidential Computing, today announced support for CNCF Confidential Containers (CoCo) in Fortanix Confidential AI, enabling organizations to run AI workloads on Kubernetes inside hardware-based Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), on confidential CPUs and GPUs. Enterprises keep the speed and agility of containers while protecting sensitive data, AI models, agents, and applications in use, so they can support their regulatory compliance efforts, scale AI across the business, and adopt frontier AI without compromising data privacy or intellectual property. With Fortanix's contributions to CoCo, developers can deploy Confidential AI workloads on Kubernetes at the speed the business demands, while leaders gain assurance that security is built in from the start and can take AI to production with confidence. Top Stories Interested in more newsletters? Browse here. Regulated industries, including financial services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and government, need to run AI on sensitive and sovereign data without exposing that data or their models to the infrastructure operator. New research from Fortanix and Atomik Research underscores the challenge: while 93% of AI leaders understand that traditional encryption does not protect data while it is being processed by AI, only half can fully verify that protection is in place during inference. Fortanix Confidential AI isolates workloads inside hardware-based TEEs and uses attestation to verify each environment before any data or model is unlocked. That same trusted environment lets enterprises run proprietary models from frontier AI labs on-premises or in air-gapped environments, next to their most sensitive data, without putting the model owner's intellectual property at risk. "Containers are how the world ships applications, and in the AI era, they're what makes AI scalable. But moving AI into containers doesn't change the threat," said Anand Kashyap, co-founder and CEO of Fortanix. "Models, agents and applications still touch an organization's most sensitive data and intellectual property, and each one needs zero-trust security, including while it runs. That's why we built Fortanix Confidential AI support for Confidential Containers: so teams can deploy containers into confidential computing environments with one click across supported hardware and Kubernetes platforms, with every workload verified before even a single key is released." From Open Foundation to Running Confidential AI at Enterprise Scale CoCo has advanced Confidential AI by enabling AI workloads to run inside TEEs on Kubernetes. As these AI-powered applications move into production, organizations need security that holds up at scale and under audit. To help meet that need, Fortanix is developing open-source plugins to CoCo, connecting Fortanix Confidential Computing Manager for attestation and Fortanix Data Security Manager for secure key release. Working within CoCo's standard workflows, the plugins verify that every container is genuine, runs inside a TEE, and meets security policy before any keys are released. Built for production at scale, the Fortanix AI security platform delivers: Story continues below * High availability: Clustered deployment designed so key release never becomes a single point of failure. * Enterprise support: SLA-backed, 24x7 global support from the team that built the platform. * Certified security: FIPS 140-2 Level 3, SOC 2 Type 2, and ISO/IEC 27001. * Proven adoption: Trusted by governments, banks, healthcare providers, technology and retail leaders, and cybersecurity companies. With this release, developers can deploy Confidential AI workloads on Kubernetes at the speed the business demands, while leaders gain assurance that security is built in from the start and can take AI to production with confidence. "Attestation is a process. Trust is an operation," said Anuj Jaiswal, Chief Product Officer at Fortanix. "CoCo has proven that confidential AI works in open source. Enterprises now need it to run reliably in production. Fortanix Confidential AI protects both the model owner's intellectual property and the enterprise data, and neither is exposed to the other or to the infrastructure provider. With attestation and key management in one platform, teams can adopt standard CoCo without building the trust layer themselves." "Enterprises need data to stay protected while running models and agents, and labs need the same privacy to protect their models - NVIDIA Confidential Computing keeps both data and models private," said John Fanelli, vice president, Enterprise Software, NVIDIA. "Through open source collaboration with the CNCF Confidential Containers community, Fortanix is building on open standards for attestation and secure key release at production scale." Closing the Core Security Gap in AI Encryption protects data at rest and in transit. During AI inference without Confidential Computing, model weights and sensitive data must be decrypted in CPU and GPU memory, where they can be exposed to privileged administrators, cloud operators, and anyone with access to the infrastructure. Fortanix Confidential AI closes this gap. Before any sensitive workload runs, it verifies that both the underlying hardware and the AI workload are genuine and unaltered. Encryption keys are released only after verification succeeds, and only inside the protected environment. Because the CPU and GPU are verified together through composite attestation, the full execution path is trusted, not just a part of it. Encryption keys stay within Fortanix Data Security Manager (DSM), a FIPS 140-2 Level 3 HSM and key management solution, which is widely adopted by global enterprises in regulated industries and the public sector. Fortanix Confidential Computing Manager (CCM) provides hardware-rooted attestation for the open-source CoCo runtime. The Confidential AI solution deploys as SaaS, on-premises, or fully air-gapped, so regulated, sovereign, and disconnected environments can adopt Confidential AI without depending on the cloud. Gnani AI October 6, 2026 Ascent connects Gnani AI's production-proven Multi-modal Conversation AI - led by Voice AI - along with Agent Assist and AQM/Speech Analytics, to regional technology, infrastructure and implementation partners, helping GCC enterprises move Contact Center and CX transformation from pilot to production. DUBAI, UAE and BENGALURU, India, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Gnani AI, the frontier AI company, today announced the regional expansion of Gnani Ascent, its flagship partner program, into the Middle East - bringing its production-proven Contact Center and CX AI suite to enterprises across the GCC through a growing network of regional partners. For regulated and government clients, the same suite is available as resident deployment on their own infrastructure, with fine-tuning available for regional languages including Arabic. The regional launch builds on Gnani AI's sovereign AI stack, unveiled in New Delhi, India on 28 August 2026 by Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, Vice-President of India, and extends it into an ecosystem purpose-built for production - with data residency, language fine-tuning and auditability built in from the ground up for regulated and government workloads in Middle East as well. Contact centers across the region face growing pressure to modernize customer experience while meeting compliance requirements that are rarely optional in banking, insurance, healthcare and government sectors. The harder problem isn't accessing AI - it's deploying it directly into the CCaaS/CPaaS platforms enterprises already run, fine-tuned to the languages their customers speak. Ascent closes that gap, pairing Gnani AI's technology with regional GTM and implementation partners. In the Middle East, Ascent hasalready onboarded Rise (a National Holding Group Company), iSteer and Gibraltar Technologies - bringing local implementation expertise and enterprise relationships to deploy Gnani AI's Conversation AI suite with Resident AI and Arabic fine-tuning. Globally, the Ascent program has brought on more than 25 partners within weeks of launch - including Hexaware, Intel, Cisco, Fortanix, Vymo, Melento and FCI. Gnani AI has already onboarded multiple banking and insurance customers in the last few months on Conversation AI led digital transformation in UAE. At its core is Gnani AI's architecture spanning Evon, Timbre, Prisma, and Warp - its family of language and speech models, fine-tunable for regional languages including Arabic - and Plexus, its agentic and conversation AI platform. Gnani AI's technology is already proven at scale: more than 200 enterprises globally, over 50 million calls handled every day across 22+ languages, in production across regulated industries including banking, insurance and government - the same foundation now extending into the Middle East through Ascent. "India has the opportunity not only to adopt AI, but to build and deploy intelligence designed for the complexity, scale and requirements of enterprises in the Middle East. No single technology layer can deliver that transformation alone. Ascent brings the ecosystem together around enterprise outcomes - from models and infrastructure to integration and implementation," said Ganesh Gopalan, Co-Founder and CEO, Gnani AI. "Enterprises across our portfolio are asking for AI that can actually run their operations, not just answer questions. Gnani AI's agentic and conversation AI capabilities, combined with Rise's go-to-market and implementation reach, let us bring that to market faster and with far greater confidence," said Omar Alomari, Head of Business Development & Innovation, Rise (A National Holding Company). "Fortanix is proud to partner with Gnani AI to redefine the architecture of trust for the enterprise," said Anuj Jaiswal, Chief Product Officer, Fortanix. "Together, we are removing the tradeoff between innovation and privacy, so enterprises can be confident that their data and intellectual property remain protected and under their control." "We've spent over a decade building the connectors that let disparate enterprise systems work together. Conversation AI is no different - it needs to plug into the same ERPs, CRMs and operational systems our customers already run. Partnering with Gnani lets us bring that same integration discipline to their state-of-the-art agentic Conversation AI, so customers get a working deployment in weeks, not months," said Umashankar Raju, Founder & CEO, iSteer. For partners, Ascent is a way to bring production-grade AI - from Conversation AI to Sovereign & Resident AI - to their clients, and engage across joint solutioning, implementation, platform integration, embedded AI or go-to-market - turning each opportunity into a shared, measurable economic value.
