Requirements
  • An earned Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning is required.

Responsibilities
  • Create a dynamic, learner-centered environment using varied teaching methods based on educational theory and evidence-based teaching and clinical practices.
  • Model reflective and critical thinking and coach and mentor students on their progress and learning plans.
  • Maintain and enhance competence in subjects being taught.
  • Confer with colleagues to ensure course integrity across programs and the curriculum.
  • Prepare and review written examinations, papers, and student projects.
  • Notify the Course Manager about at-risk students and issues at clinical sites.
  • Supervise or teach clinical rotations in acute, community, and laboratory settings, including internship and preceptorship courses.
  • Document student progress on appropriate forms.
  • Participate in Faculty Organization meetings, College of Nursing Faculty meetings, university or college committees, and university and College of Nursing events.
  • Provide service to the nursing profession and the community.
  • Clarify the nursing curriculum and programmatic requirements for students.
  • Provide information so students can make informed academic decisions.
  • Increase student awareness of available educational resources.
  • Discuss student academic progress and progression toward educational goals.
  • Refer students to institutional and community support services when appropriate.
  • Forward relevant student information regarding needs and preferences that could influence College of Nursing policy and enhance the learning environment.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise College of Nursing curricula.
  • Complete the regular 12-month appointment workload of 1,722 instructional hours and 150 service hours.
Desired Qualifications
  • A doctorate in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Teaching experience with diverse students at the baccalaureate or higher degree level.
  • Experience working with leadership in healthcare academic institutions and community organizations.
