WHY COMMUNICATION SAFETY?

As an Engineering Manager in Comms Safety, you will build systems to ensure that user-generated content across Roblox is safe and civil. You'll work on some of the most challenging problems we face, from real-time text-filters at scale, to using LLMs at the cutting edge of content moderation.

You Will:

• Build data pipelines and stores to support dynamic data driven systems at scale
• Design tools and APIs used by every team at Roblox
• Be an integral partner to machine learning engineers, enabling ML at all levels of the stack.
• Help define the team's roadmap and long-term strategy towards keeping content and features on Roblox safe.

You Have:

• 3+ years of backend experience working on multi-person codebases, including open-source or personal projects
• 2+ years experience designing and supporting data systems (pipelines, tables, telemetry, batch/streaming jobs, etc.)
• Experience building dashboards and reports to manage production systems, and track key product metrics
• An interest in machine learning
• Experience building systems that scale
• Familiar with systems for human in the loop / data annotation

You Are:

• Experienced: have designed and built backend systems depended on by other users/teams
• Data-Literate: Schema design, telemetry, batch and streaming frameworks at scale. You understand the challenges of keeping data both intuitive to use and trustworthy.
• Responsible: You build systems that are robust, and use production incidents to learn and improve.
• User Oriented: You always start with the needs of the user, whether they are Roblox users or internal engineers before architecting a solution.
