About the job

Requirements
  • A master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Engineering, Human-Centered Design, Business Process Management, Business Information Technology, or a closely related field is required.
  • Demonstrate at least one data or analytical solution personally developed and used by an identified user group in an active business or decision-making process within the last 18 months, covering the user or decision requirement, data preparation or integration, solution development, user testing, and operational use.
  • Demonstrate personally designing, configuring, building, testing, and deploying at least two applications or workflows using non-Microsoft low-code, no-code, configurable-application, workflow, or comparable rapid-development platforms.
  • Provide two examples of rapidly translating operational or business-process requirements into testable digital proofs of concept, prototypes, minimum viable solutions, or pilots. Examples must demonstrate structured data models or relationships between data entities; integration with more than one data source, service, or application; and reusable components, scripts, extensions, or comparable application logic.
  • Demonstrate two examples of personally designing digitally enabled workflows, including requirements analysis, user roles, process steps, handoffs, decisions, information requirements, pain points, and redesign opportunities prior to development.
  • Demonstrate at least one example of personally extending, integrating, or supporting digital applications or workflows using methods beyond basic platform configuration, addressing REST or other APIs, relational databases or SQL, and a general-purpose programming or scripting language such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or C#.
  • Demonstrate two examples of user testing or operational pilots for personally developed digital applications, workflows, or prototypes, including observation of feedback, defects, usability issues, process effects, or changing requirements and subsequent solution modifications.
  • Demonstrate at least one example of applying lifecycle, configuration, testing, security, or sustainment practices to rapidly developed digital applications, workflows, prototypes, or pilots. The example must address structured testing, defect tracking or documented issue-and-resolution management; source, version, or configuration control; and separation of development, test, pilot, or operational environments.
  • Demonstrate at least one example of preparing a personally developed prototype, pilot, application, or workflow for continued development, production implementation, enterprise scaling, or sustainment by another developer, DevSecOps team, platform owner, system integrator, or operational support organization. The example must address functional requirements, user stories, process or workflow design, integration or interface requirements, and deployment, hosting, security, or sustainment considerations.
  • Demonstrate two examples evaluating and communicating the results of a digital prototype, pilot, application, or workflow to managers, process owners, product owners, or other decision makers. Identify the audience, solution or pilot assessed, evidence or findings communicated, and resulting recommendation or decision concerning continuation, revision, scaling, sustainment, or retirement.
Responsibilities
  • Support CAPDEV organizations through hands-on rapid development of digital workflow proofs of concept, prototypes, and operational pilots using approved non-Microsoft low-code, no-code, configurable-application, workflow, lightweight-development, or comparable platforms and tools.
  • Work directly with process owners, operational users, analysts, managers, and information stakeholders to understand existing work and information flows, decisions, handoffs, data requirements, pain points, and opportunities for digital transformation.
  • Document current and desired workflows in sufficient detail to identify user roles, workflow states, decision points, information exchanges, business rules, data requirements, and the minimum functionality needed to test a redesigned process.
  • Translate operational needs into minimum viable prototype or pilot requirements that can be rapidly developed, demonstrated, tested, and iterated with users.
  • Design, configure, develop, test, and improve digital applications and workflows that replace or materially reduce manual, spreadsheet-intensive, email-driven, form-based, document-centric, or otherwise fragmented CAPDEV processes.

About the company

SimIS delivers IT solutions for government and defense, specializing in modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems. Its M&S work uses cognitive systems engineering to create executable models and simulations; T&E validates system performance for DoD and DHS; cybersecurity includes compliance support such as CMMC. The company develops autonomous platforms in its robotics lab, including the SimIS Autonomous Maritime System (SAMS) and RiverScout, plus AI/ML, data analytics, software development, and 3D printing. Its model centers on securing prime government contracts and IDIQ vehicles, with services supported by a Tier 3 data center for hosting and managed IT services, aiming to help government customers model, test, secure, and deploy advanced systems.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • December 2025 SHIELD IDIQ win opens Missile Defense Agency and DoD pipelines.
  • August 2026 GSA MAS prime status supports recurring federal purchasing and cloud work.
  • September 2026 Constellis and I/ITSEC presence keeps SimIS visible to buyers and recruits.

What critics are saying

  • ICE office lease needs Suffolk Council approval; delays block a multi-year revenue stream.
  • MDA SHIELD positioning still depends on task orders, not guaranteed funded work.
  • Autonomy demos at I/ITSEC and Constellis do not prove production-scale adoption.

What makes SimIS unique

  • Veteran-owned Suffolk firm sells cleared modeling, simulation, cyber, and autonomy to defense customers.
  • GSA MAS prime contract 47QTCA23D0056 runs through February 2043, broadening federal access.
  • RiverScout and SAMS give SimIS owned robotics platforms, not just staff augmentation.
