Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.
  • Must be currently registered or licensed in the applicable state and maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtain it during orientation, and maintain current certification during employment.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult patients.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures and the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in a post-acute care facility.
  • Must be able to implement and interpret nursing department programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Must perform proficiently in all applicable competency areas.
  • Must maintain professional working relationships with care team members and vendors.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information.
  • Must understand and follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
  • Must adhere to the MUSC Health Code of Conduct and complete mandatory compliance training.
  • Must be able to lift, turn, move, position, and transport patients.
  • Must be able to assist patients with bathing, showering, personal grooming, feeding, and toileting.
  • Must be able to accurately document and chart patient care.
  • Must be able to respond promptly to call lights.
  • Must be able to assist in evacuating patients.
  • Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
  • Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
  • Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 35 pounds and push or pull 35 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Provide routine daily nursing care to assigned patients to ensure patient safety and attain or maintain each patient's highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and MUSC Health standards.
  • Report to the unit nurse.
  • Attend and participate in continuing education programs.
  • Work in the department and throughout the facility.
  • Work beyond normal working hours, including weekends and holidays, and temporarily work in other positions as necessary.
  • Respond to patient, care-team, visitor, and government-agency interactions under all conditions and circumstances.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of geriatric nursing experience is preferred.
