Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED and two years of related experience are required.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English ability is preferred.
  • Availability for Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and some Saturdays is required.
  • The position requires U.S. citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Set up and administer standardized assessments for Adult Basic Education students in High School Equivalency and English as a Second Language programs according to test publisher requirements and National Reporting System guidelines.
  • Determine student eligibility, appropriate test level, and course placement.
  • Handle disputes regarding test results and retesting, special accommodations, and student or faculty complaints.
  • Track student instructional hours in the LACES database for Adult Basic Education grant testing requirements and determine progress testing levels according to test publisher guidelines.
  • Assemble, distribute, collect, and maintain testing inventory for faculty.
  • Score tests manually and electronically and assist students in the computer lab with troubleshooting and resolving routine computer issues.
  • Correspond and coordinate with faculty regarding student testing, and train faculty and staff on testing requirements and testing policy enforcement.
  • Provide and interpret confidential test-result data reports to faculty, staff, and students in accordance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act rules.
  • Greet current and prospective students, answer incoming department calls, and provide information regarding programs, classes, and departmental operations.
  • Assist in developing standard operating procedures for the program.
  • Maintain filing and retention of student records in accordance with New Mexico Higher Education regulations.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to student testing software, including TABE and CASAS, with the vendor and CNM Student Assessment Center staff.
  • Assist with internal departmental data-record auditing as required by the program grant.
  • Perform security, daily backup, and restoration checks of information; create templates, spreadsheets, and other documents to support departmental efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with student class registration, advisement, and appointment scheduling; review, verify, and process student intake applications and related documentation.
  • Use Banner Student Information to generate CNM student identification numbers for new students.
  • Register High School Equivalency and English as a Second Language students and provide class schedules to faculty and students.
  • Interpret and enforce department policies and procedures regarding student registration, multiple enrollment, and course drops.
  • Provide office administrative support, including purchasing and textbook ordering and distribution.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development training.
  • Train and supervise student employees.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
