Responsibilities
  • Leverage a system-level understanding of products and technologies to support cross-functional engineering efforts.
  • Act as the binding agent across multidisciplinary teams to keep software, hardware, and product requirements and targets aligned across the ADK 6.0 program.
  • Own systems integration and validation activities to ensure the platform performs as designed, complementing unit-level testing performed within the team.
  • Define and develop metrics to verify that the system and its subsystems satisfy feature and system requirements.
  • Analyze stakeholder, product, and safety requirements to define technical system and subsystem requirements.
  • Support system design activities by assessing impact and conformance to requirements.
  • Collaborate with the test and validation team to define verification criteria for system requirements.
  • Review legacy requirements to ensure completeness and correctness.
  • Develop and maintain requirements and specifications suitable for collaboration with original equipment manufacturer partners.
  • Identify, negotiate, and resolve cross-functional trade-offs and conflicts across the development process while gaining buy-in from impacted teams.
  • Streamline interfaces between system architects, controls, and original equipment manufacturer platform partners.
  • Evaluate industry and regulatory requirements for applicability to May Mobility products.
  • Perform failure mode and effects analysis and track findings to resolution.
  • Identify process gaps and propose solutions for resolution.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Experience integrating and validating combined hardware/software systems at the vehicle or platform level is desirable.
  • Experience supporting original equipment manufacturer platform programs or working directly with original equipment manufacturer partners is desirable.
  • Knowledge of automotive and autonomous vehicle technologies, including light detection and ranging, radar, Ethernet, and controller area network, is desirable.
  • Experience with requirements management tooling and requirement-based design is desirable.
  • Experience in autonomous vehicles, machine learning, robotics, Internet of Things, or mobile applications is desirable.
  • Experience working in a startup is desirable.

Kannan brings more than 25 years of experience in robotics and autonomous systems. He has also held senior engineering and leadership roles at Argo AI, Amazon, and GE, and holds multiple robotics patents. May Mobility has launched its fifth-generation autonomous vehicle system, combining deep learning with a reasoning engine to handle complex driving scenarios. The technology uses a world model that simulates hundreds of "what if" scenarios every 200 milliseconds, predicting up to 10 seconds into the future. The system differs from traditional AV approaches by reasoning through novel situations rather than relying solely on training data. A multi-policy reasoning engine evaluates multiple driving strategies simultaneously, selecting the safest option whilst rejecting actions that fail safety parameters.
