Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Three to five or more years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of programmable logic controller systems, including required troubleshooting experience.
  • A strong sense of ownership and urgency in responding to equipment issues.
  • The ability to lead and coordinate work to completion in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication across shifts and departments using available tools such as Microsoft Teams and email.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to work independently and schedule work with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • The ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods, up to 12 hours as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Prioritize and assign daily maintenance work using the computerized maintenance management system based on production needs.
  • Provide direction and support to maintenance technicians during the shift.
  • Serve as the primary maintenance contact during day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure clear communication and effective handoffs between shifts.
  • Partner with Operations to communicate equipment status and priorities.
  • Serve as the primary call-in contact for maintenance-related issues outside normal working hours.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and determine appropriate remote or on-site actions.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to restore equipment operation as quickly as possible.
  • Escalate complex or ongoing issues to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment.
  • Understand electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control systems, including motors, drives, breakers, sensors, and programmable logic controllers.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on conveyors, rollers, gearboxes, and related systems.
  • Support line startups, shutdowns, and changeovers as needed.
  • Execute assigned preventive maintenance tasks and assign tasks to others using the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Identify equipment issues during preventive maintenance and communicate findings for follow-up.
  • Generate follow-up work orders after completing preventive maintenance to ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately and on time within the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Document maintenance activities and communicate the status of open work orders.
  • Identify needed parts and communicate shortages or reorder needs.
  • Identify and request tools required to complete repairs when they are not readily available.
  • Use available spare parts effectively to minimize downtime and ensure parts are entered into the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Follow and reinforce all safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized shop and escalate equipment repairs as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A technical certification or two-year vocational/technical degree.
  • Previous lead or informal leadership experience.
  • Experience with industrial equipment, drives, and controls.
