Requirements
  • An earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Appropriate teaching or professional experience as outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the specific area of instruction.
  • Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
  • Understanding of the college infrastructure, including My Ivy and Ivy Learn.
  • For the applicable technical course standard, meet one of the four listed qualification routes: the full-time faculty discipline standard; a Department of Labor, Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman’s card in the directly related discipline with at least two years in journeyman status and linked experience, plus required specialized certifications; required specialized certifications or credentials plus five years of directly related work experience; or a current applicable Indiana Department of Education Workplace Specialist, Technology Education, CTE: Trade & Industrial Engineer, or Manufacturing License plus required specialized certifications.
  • Possess any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record.
Responsibilities
  • Create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals.
  • Provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.
  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide a syllabus appropriate to the course or courses being taught and follow its content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy and the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submit requested information within established timelines, including No Show, 60% Participation, Midterm Grades, and Final Grades.
  • Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions and provide assistance.
  • Communicate course and assignment expectations and outcomes.
  • Assess student grades based on participation, class performance, assignments, and quizzes.
  • Provide feedback on assignments or use a rubric so students understand assessment scores.
  • Address student concerns and consult with the program or department chair when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted courses.
  • Use appropriate technology such as Canvas (Ivy Learn), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Zoom.
  • For planned or emergency absences when there is reasonable time, notify the program or department chair and procure a substitute instructor whenever possible.
  • For emergency absences resulting in class cancellation, notify the program or department chair, campus security for on-campus courses, and students.
  • Conduct all activities with appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views, and promote this as an integral part of the work.
