About the job

Requirements
  • Be a certified public auditor or be immediately before the professional examination.
  • Have at least four years of audit experience at a major or next-largest audit firm, including group engagements with substantial consolidation depth.
  • Have practical expertise in German Commercial Code consolidation, including capital consolidation, eliminations, and purchase price allocation after an acquisition.
  • Understand how financial statements are produced, not only how they are audited.
  • Be able to work accurately and traceably so that files can be understood without follow-up questions.
  • Have advanced Microsoft Excel skills beyond pivot tables, including consolidation logic, reconciliation bridges, and robust structures without hardcodes.
  • Be able to explain accounting matters clearly enough that management understands the consequences.
  • Be willing to take sole professional responsibility for accounting matters and work autonomously.
Responsibilities
  • Own the consolidated financial statements under the German Commercial Code across all entities, including capital and debt consolidation, elimination of intercompany profits, and consolidation of income and expenses.
  • Bring each acquisition into the consolidation group, from the opening balance sheet and purchase price allocation through ongoing integration.
  • Document the consolidation logic so it is transparent, auditable, and not dependent on one person's memory.
  • Manage ongoing accounting across all entities and own monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
  • Identify recurring manual work in posting, reconciliation, and closing preparation as automation candidates and build solutions with the automation team.
  • Coordinate interfaces with DATEV, the external audit, and external advisers.
  • Own reporting to financing partners, including covenants, key performance indicators, and reporting obligations.
  • Prepare financial information for stakeholders with differing interests and communicate the implications of the figures.
  • Take full responsibility for the group's accounting function and report directly to company leadership.
  • Ensure that acquired entities are integrated into the consolidation group and that the process scales for subsequent acquisitions.
  • Automate posting, reconciliation, and closing-preparation processes.
  • Prepare work papers and supporting documentation before the annual audit requests them.
Desired Qualifications
  • SQL or Python experience.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence tools for reconciliation, research, documentation, and workflow productivity.
  • A background outside the stated audit-firm profile that nevertheless demonstrates strong consolidation expertise.
