Requirements
  • An Associate’s Degree in Nursing is required, although appropriate experience may substitute for education on an equivalent basis.
  • A current Wisconsin Registered Nurse license is required.
  • The role requires the ability to assess and triage patients.
  • The role requires strong leadership, team-building, decision-making, prioritization, problem-solving, delegation, communication, organizational, reliability, and confidentiality capabilities.
  • The role requires the ability to manage workflow, patients, patient families, physicians, and others under stressful conditions.
  • The role requires the ability to detect and translate speech or other communication.
  • The role may occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
  • The role requires occasional lifting of moderate-weight materials and continuous standing or walking.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement nursing plans of care for patients within the scope of the nursing license.
  • Communicate plans of care to patients as prescribed by physicians, including test results, specialized test scheduling, treatment modalities, prescription drug instructions, and other patient education.
  • Document treatment appropriately in the medical record.
  • Use the nursing process to triage patient concerns by telephone and provide nursing advice.
  • Receive calls regarding appointments, urgent care, inpatient admissions, prescription refills, and test results in accordance with clinic protocols, and coordinate the appropriate disposition of each call.
  • Obtain, review, verify, and complete healthcare forms related to home healthcare, referrals, medical equipment, and other patient or physician needs.
  • Assist with managed care authorization and complete insurance and medical forms for patients, or assist patients in completing the forms.
  • Help maintain patient flow and workflow.
  • Collaborate with clinic staff to provide efficient service to patients and the clinic.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Assist with clinical trials according to protocol, if required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Previous clinic, doctor’s office, or urgent care experience is preferred.
  • Experience in psychiatry is preferred.
