Requirements
  • An earned doctorate in Counselor Education or a closely related field.
  • Experience in university teaching and clinical supervision of counselors-in-training.
  • Knowledge of Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) standards and professional counseling practice.
  • Eligibility for appropriate professional licensure or certification in the State of Texas.
  • Active involvement in appropriate professional counseling organizations.
  • An appropriate scholarly agenda consistent with expectations for a tenure-track faculty appointment.
Responsibilities
  • Teach master's-level courses in the CACREP core and courses supporting the Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Professional School Counseling concentrations in traditional and online formats, with a four-course or equivalent teaching load in the fall and spring semesters.
  • Provide clinical supervision to counselors-in-training, including supervision of practicum and internship experiences and clinical site visits as appropriate.
  • Advise and mentor graduate students throughout their academic and professional preparation.
  • Participate in student recruitment, admissions, orientation, retention, and other program activities.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with public schools, school districts, clinical mental health agencies, healthcare organizations, and other community partners.
  • Maintain active involvement in appropriate professional counseling organizations.
  • Maintain an appropriate scholarly agenda consistent with expectations for a tenure-track faculty appointment.
  • Encourage and mentor student participation in research and professional activities.
  • Contribute to the College and University's mission through assigned service.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduation from a CACREP-accredited doctoral program in Counselor Education and Supervision.
  • Current or previous professional counseling licensure and/or Certified School Counselor credentials.
  • Eligibility for professional licensure or certification in Texas.
  • Experience teaching CACREP-aligned graduate counseling coursework.
  • Experience supervising counseling practicum and internship students.
  • Experience in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and/or Professional School Counseling.
  • Working knowledge of current CACREP standards and accreditation processes.
  • Experience with program assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity related to counseling, counselor education, clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, or counselor preparation.
  • Experience teaching effectively in online and other technology-supported learning environments.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and leadership skills.
  • A commitment to developing collaborative relationships with schools, counseling agencies, healthcare providers, and community partners.
  • For appointment at the Associate Professor rank, a record of excellence in university teaching and a record of scholarly research and publication commensurate with the candidate's experience and the University's expectations for appointment at that rank.
