The Peer Support Specialist provides vital support and advocacy for individuals involved in the criminal justice system, assisting with their transition from incarceration to community living. Utilizing lived experience with recovery and/or reentry, the Specialist offers emotional support, guidance, and resource connection to promote successful reintegration, reduce recidivism, and improve overall well-being. The Peer Support Specialist will coordinate with health service providers, the Clinical Case Manager, the discharge planner, and reentry staff to provide outreach, intake, and wrap-around services for individuals participating in the MAT program. They must be trained in peer counseling, life skills, and the impact of reentry on individuals. The PSS must be qualified and trained to provide effective diversion and/or reentry services and maintain the confidentiality of program participants’ medical and justice involvement history.
Hours are from 8am-5pm

This position is supported by grant funding for an initial 18 month period, with the opportunity to extend for another 12 months. Following the grant period, there may be opportunities for the role to continue as part of ongoing operations, contingent on program sustainability and organizational needs.
