About the company

Imperial Group is a vertically integrated metals platform that manages the full lifecycle from scrap collection to finished aluminum and zinc alloys. It processes ferrous and non-ferrous metals, e-scrap, copper, and specialty alloys, then uses those materials in its own manufacturing facilities to produce specification-grade alloys at large scale (e.g., Imperial Zinc Corp produces over 80 million pounds of zinc alloys annually). The company differentiates itself through family-led governance and a closed-loop domestic supply chain built via strategic acquisitions, giving it end-to-end control over sourcing, processing, manufacturing, and distribution. Its goal is to secure a reliable domestic supply of critical minerals like aluminum, copper, and zinc for U.S. manufacturers and national security interests.

What believers are saying

  • 2026 website updates emphasize freight-included pricing and company-owned logistics, improving customer stickiness.
  • Wire, e-scrap, and specialty alloy recovery expands feedstock options across industrial demand.
  • Domestic aluminum and zinc supply aligns with U.S. critical minerals priorities and buyer sourcing rules.

What critics are saying

  • Imperial publicly shows no recent acquisitions or expansion beyond website refreshes in 2026.
  • Commodity-indexed scrap and alloy pricing exposes margins to LME and COMEX swings.
  • Any Chicago smelting outage would break the closed-loop model and immediately impair deliveries.

What makes Imperial Group unique

  • Chicago-headquartered, family-led since 1962 with closed-loop metals collection through finished alloys.
  • Owns recycling, smelting, trading, and logistics, reducing dependence on outside processors.
  • Operates zinc alloy manufacturing in Chicago and aluminum smelting in Minerva, Ohio.
