About the job
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of the NAAP/NCCAP Modular I Course for Activity Professionals or certification in accordance with applicable regulatory agencies, including certification by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals as an Activity Director Certified or by the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, or one year of full-time experience in a social or recreational program within the last three years in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand spoken English to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients and visitors and respond to their medical and physical needs.
- Availability to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
- Ability to lead, teach, and train others.
- Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Well-developed organizational abilities.
- Customer service and hospitality skills.
- Assist the Recreation Director in developing, implementing, and supervising the full scope of recreation services.
- Assist with planning the nursing center recreation program by contributing to the development of program philosophies and policies and writing procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Contribute to implementing meaningful activities for patients and residents that engage them creatively, intellectually, physically, socially, and spiritually.
- Assist in recruiting and training recreation-program volunteers and, when assigned, assume responsibility for volunteer-program development and implementation.
