Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree, or a high school diploma and three years of healthcare experience.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of the hire date.
  • Pass a state criminal background check and, if applicable, a federal criminal background check as required for regulated areas.
  • Have two years of experience in a healthcare management or supervisory position.
  • Maintain good to excellent health to assist patients and move equipment and supplies.
  • Lift up to 60 pounds, push carts, and position patients for less than 50% of work time.
  • Perform bending and stretching movements as required.
  • Work in a clinical environment with regular and constant exposure to communicable disease and bloodborne pathogens.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate patient-care delivery in accordance with policies, procedures, philosophy, and mission.
  • Develop, implement, and support strategies for quality patient care based on medical-service requirements while achieving positive patient relations in a teaching environment.
  • Ensure staff provides quality and effective care consistent with relevant policies, procedures, access standards, and service standards; monitor and evaluate quality of care.
  • Work with staff and peers to identify opportunities to improve patient care and coordinate activities between clinical services and other clinical units.
  • Facilitate the development of departmental policies and procedures and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements, and Medicare.
  • Promote customer satisfaction in a professional and constructive manner.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director to establish and achieve program goals.
  • Coordinate, organize, and delegate operational aspects of the department to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
  • Determine service needs for patients and staff with the Director or Administrator of Clinical Services in accordance with the mission and goals.
  • Ensure staff provides patient-focused care and resolve identified patient-care issues.
  • Review outcomes and evaluate operational systems to support ongoing improvement; create a work environment that promotes continuous quality improvement, team building, and personal development.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and other personnel to promote and plan optimal patient care; work with physicians and ancillary service providers to review practices, services, and issues.
  • Select, hire, train, manage, and continuously evaluate employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide objective and constructive feedback, and coach and counsel employees to correct performance deficiencies.
  • Establish goals and provide follow-up within established Human Resources policies.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and ensure staff meets established access and service standards.
  • Develop communication systems to keep personnel informed of operations.
  • Foster competent staff through orientation, in-service training, continuing education, and professional development programs.
  • Assist with the creation and oversight of clinic budgets.
  • Monitor personnel, materials, and service budgets; ensure cost-effective staffing patterns and schedules and appropriate staff utilization.
  • Review trends with the Medical Director and Administrator; monitor equipment and supply utilization, prioritize budget requests, approve and maintain payroll documents, and analyze trends for long-range budget planning.
  • Participate in committees and complete additional assigned projects.
  • Directly supervise support staff and clinical-unit personnel, including nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, care assistants, insurance specialists, coordinators, registration staff, and technical staff.
