SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - DPR Construction, a forward-thinking, self-performing contractor, ranked No. 3 on Engineering News-Record's 2026 Top Green Contractors list, up from No. 4 in 2025. ENR's annual Top Green Contractors list ranks firms based on revenue from construction services on projects registered with or certified by third-party organizations that establish standards for environmental impact, energy efficiency or carbon footprint. "Every year, we challenge ourselves to find new and better ways to build more responsibly," said George Pfeffer, DPR Construction CEO and Leadership Team member. "The decisions made on a project can have an impact long after construction is complete. That responsibility drives our teams to keep improving and innovating alongside our customers and partners to deliver industry leading results." The recognition comes as DPR continues to integrate sustainability into how projects are planned and delivered. Teams are incorporating environmental considerations into preconstruction, procurement and self-perform work, while expanding lifecycle analysis, developing guidance for lower-carbon materials and improving access to environmental product data. These efforts are helping teams evaluate options and reduce environmental impacts across projects. "We are focused on demonstrating how our sustainability efforts translate into measurable results," said Ryan Poole, who leads sustainability at DPR Construction. "That means evaluating embodied carbon to make smarter material choices, conserving water, advancing zero-waste practices and accelerating the use of lower-emission equipment. The goal is turning innovation into practical solutions our teams can scale across every project." Water strategies on major DPR projects saved more than 48 million gallons of freshwater in 2025 alone, according to DPR's 2025 Global Social Responsibility Annual Report. The report also details expanded use of lower-carbon concrete, cleaner equipment and lower emission fuels. DPR is also working to make its environmental performance more transparent. Its Path to Regeneration provides a roadmap for reducing carbon emissions across its value chain and strengthening accountability over time. Ongoing improvements to environmental data and reporting are helping DPR better understand its impacts and track progress. Across ENR's Top 100 Green Contractors, green contracting revenue increased 5.9% in 2025 to $101.9 billion. ENR also noted a more complex operating environment, with owners weighing sustainability goals alongside rising construction costs, labor constraints and shifting federal policies. Atrium Health Union West's expansion to increase acute care capacity, enhance emergency care access.

Atrium Health Union West's expansion to increase acute care capacity, enhance emergency care access. 09.11.2026 Atrium Health News Expected to open in fall 2028, the project will expand access to hospital and emergency care for the region's growing population. CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 10, 2026 - Atrium Health, which is part of Advocate Health, recently broke ground on a new patient tower at Atrium Health Union West. The major expansion will significantly increase the hospital's capacity by bringing additional inpatient, emergency and procedural services closer to home for residents of Union and southeastern Mecklenburg counties. The $116 million investment will add more than 67,000 square feet to the hospital, creating capacity for 88 new patient rooms, expanding the emergency department with 11 new bays, adding an endoscopy room and a procedure room, and enhancing access to imaging, ancillary, and support services through additional assets and infrastructure. "Union County and the surrounding areas continue to grow at an extraordinary pace, and our community deserves access to high-quality care close to home," said Seth Goldwire, president of Atrium Health Union West and Atrium Health Anson. "Not long ago, many residents had to leave the area for hospital care. Today, patients and families can access a wide range of services much closer to where they live. This expansion will help us care for more patients, expand critical services and ensure more families can get the care they need without traveling far from home." Since opening in February 2022, Atrium Health Union West has offered maternity, emergency, surgical, imaging, laboratory and pharmacy services to residents of Matthews, Union County and neighboring communities. The hospital has served more than 200,000 patients since opening and has seen patient visits increase by 127%, reflecting the community's growing reliance on local healthcare services. "As both a nurse and a longtime Union County resident, I've seen how important it is for patients and families to have access to care close to home," said Missy Baker, chief nursing officer at Atrium Health Union West, Atrium Health Union and Atrium Health Anson. "Whether someone is facing a medical emergency, welcoming a new baby or managing a serious illness, being able to receive care close to their family and support system can make a meaningful difference. This investment in our community's health will help ensure more people can access the high-quality care they need close to home for years to come." Atrium Health is partnering with DPR Construction on the project, which is expected to open in fall 2028. Photos available here. About Atrium Health.
