Requirements
  • The resource must be able to communicate in English because the resident is anglophone.
  • A profile as a PAB, ASSS, or nursing student is accepted.
  • The resource must be autonomous, reliable, and use a humane approach.
  • The resource must provide continuous coverage without breaks or a scheduled meal period; meals, transportation, and lodging are not provided by the organization.
Responsibilities
  • Provide continuous day and night surveillance of the resident to prevent wandering, entry into neighboring rooms, and situations that could compromise the resident’s safety or dignity.
  • Accompany and supervise the resident during movements inside and outside the room, and provide direct assistance as needed during transfers.
  • Give reminders to use the bathroom, supervise and assist the resident as needed, including incontinence or accidents, in collaboration with the RPA staff.
  • Use a positive, simple, gentle approach adapted to the resident’s cognitive abilities, and avoid discussing the resident’s difficulties or limitations because the resident may react negatively.
