Requirements
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams, with a general understanding of working within a computer network.
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory, and survey techniques.
  • Experience organizing technical data neatly and accurately, with familiarity with the Construction Specifications Institute specification system for construction.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations and maintain a cooperative attitude.
  • Ability to manage time, multitask, and prioritize work while frequently handling interruptions from phone calls and questions about work in progress.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally and develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work closely with a variety of trade and craft personnel in field work situations.
  • Ability to collaborate with personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.
  • Ability to work extended hours or off-shift work when needed to accommodate changing construction schedules and sequences.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience, is required.
  • Educational background in materials and methods of construction.
  • Ability to remain stationary in an office environment more than 50% of the time and occasionally move about a job site.
  • Ability to access work performed on multiple levels.
  • Ability to operate a computer and office productivity equipment, including a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe information, view a computer terminal, and read printed and digital documents.
  • Ability to work near loud equipment and wear hearing protection when necessary.
  • Ability to communicate laws, ordinances, plans, regulations, protocols, directives, and standard operating procedures related to project scope.
  • Ability to work primarily in an office setting, with minimal outdoor work in varying weather conditions and exposure.
Responsibilities
  • Develop cost estimates for process chemical and gas scopes of work.
  • Analyze project designs to determine more efficient products and methods that meet project goals.
  • Track costs by bid package, field order, and client-defined change category.
  • Work with subcontractors and equipment vendors to validate budgets.
  • Interpret construction drawings and technical manuals and quantify materials required for construction.
  • Perform on-screen takeoff of material quantities.
  • Write and publish meeting minutes.
  • Summarize material quantities in an orderly manner.
  • Review, present, and reconcile estimates.
  • Identify scope gaps in project documents.
  • Maintain supplier lists and pricing logs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of two years of construction estimating experience.
  • Experience with commercial, healthcare, industrial, water treatment, and/or high-tech projects.
  • LEED Accredited Professional accreditation or the ability to become accredited within eighteen months.
