About the job

Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience in direct-to-consumer ecommerce, growth, or digital commerce, including prior ownership of a meaningful ecommerce profit-and-loss responsibility or revenue target.
  • Strong Shopify-based direct-to-consumer experience.
  • Demonstrated performance marketing experience across Google and Meta.
  • Strong command of customer acquisition cost, return on ad spend, conversion, average order value, contribution margin, and lifetime value.
  • Experience with retention, lifecycle marketing, and subscription businesses.
  • Experience managing external ecommerce or performance agencies.
  • Strong forecasting, commercial planning, and analytical capability.
Responsibilities
  • Provide interim leadership of Bulletproof.com during the current direct-to-consumer leader’s leave, maintaining business continuity and owning direct-to-consumer performance.
  • Direct agency and internal execution; set priorities, make commercial decisions, challenge assumptions, connect execution to business economics, and hold partners accountable for results.
  • Quickly understand business economics, focus the organization on key priorities, and leave behind a stronger operating system and roadmap.
  • Ensure forecasting, promotions, launches, site operations, retention programs, paid media, and reporting continue without disruption.
  • Maintain visibility into revenue, margin, traffic, conversion, average order value, subscriptions, retention, and acquisition performance; identify gaps against forecast proactively.
  • Lead the contracted agency by translating priorities into direction, managing scope and service-level agreements, prioritizing work, challenging recommendations, and ensuring measurable business impact.
  • Identify and validate high-value revenue opportunities across acquisition, retention, subscriptions, merchandising, conversion-rate optimization, product prioritization, and innovation.
  • Document learnings, decisions, outstanding risks, and a prioritized forward roadmap for the returning direct-to-consumer leader.
  • Maintain and update weekly direct-to-consumer revenue outlooks and item-level forecasts; compare actual performance with forecasts and identify risks and opportunities early.
  • Forecast performance by core product or category, promotional period, subscription revenue, paid acquisition contribution, and major innovation launches; incorporate traffic, conversion, average order value, inventory, and media trends.
  • Partner with Operations on inventory constraints, out-of-stock risks, and product availability; recommend interventions when weekly performance falls behind expectations.
  • Own item-level direct-to-consumer forecasting for base business, promotions, subscriptions, innovation, and seasonality; maintain and improve the rolling 12-month forecast.
  • Translate demand changes into inventory, media, and commercial actions through monthly sales and operations planning; document assumptions, scenarios, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare the monthly direct-to-consumer business review to explain performance, covering revenue versus plan, latest estimate and prior year; contribution margin; traffic; conversion rate; average order value; new-versus-returning mix; paid acquisition and customer acquisition cost; subscription additions, active base and churn; repeat purchase; product and category performance; innovation; promotional effectiveness; and conversion-rate-optimization and creative learnings.
  • Provide executive-level conclusions and recommended actions and decisions in the monthly business review.
  • Serve as the primary internal business owner for the agency across retention, conversion-rate optimization, website support, and artificial intelligence optimization.
  • Translate business priorities into agency briefs and maintain a prioritized roadmap across workstreams; hold the agency accountable to scope, service-level agreements, quality standards, and agreed outcomes.
  • Lead agency business reviews, challenge recommendations inconsistent with margin, lifetime value, inventory, brand strategy, or product priorities, and ensure tests deliver useful learning and quantified impact.
  • Escalate agency performance, quality, or timing issues and retain learnings and documentation within the company.
  • Oversee Google and Meta strategy, budget allocation, and performance with sufficient technical depth to challenge agencies and operators.
  • Review advertising spend, customer acquisition cost, new-customer acquisition cost, return on ad spend, new-to-brand performance, conversion, revenue, and contribution margin using business economics.
  • Evaluate product-level paid-media economics and decide which products merit acquisition investment based on margin, conversion, repeat behavior, subscription potential, and lifetime value.
  • Connect acquisition investment to downstream customer quality and retention, and focus creative testing on strategically prioritized products.
  • Advance the shift from promotion-first customer relationship management toward segmented, value-driven lifecycle marketing.
  • Prioritize customer segments using product affinity, purchase behavior, subscriber status, engagement, lifetime value, and promotion dependency.
  • Monitor whether retention improves repeat purchase, time to second order, subscription conversion, early subscriber retention, and revenue per recipient or customer.
  • Ensure educational content connects product benefits, routines, replenishment moments, and clear buying actions.
  • Monitor subscriber acquisition, first-renewal retention, cancellation, and net subscriber trends; improve subscription attachment, cancellation intervention, skip/pause/save behavior, and cross-sell or multi-product subscription opportunities.
  • Evaluate subscription offers against margin and churn and provide migration or substitution paths for discontinued or out-of-stock products.
  • Own the direct-to-consumer promotional strategy and calendar, including offer architecture, discount depth, gifts with purchase, sampling, and subscription offers.
  • Evaluate incremental revenue, contribution margin, customer quality, and demand pull-forward to determine which promotions to repeat, change, or eliminate.
  • Ensure agency and internal ecommerce execution follows approved promotional and margin guardrails; reduce broad discounting where evidence supports stronger value-led alternatives.
  • Prioritize products for direct-to-consumer investment using product economics, customer demand, repeat behavior, margin, and strategic relevance; determine the 5–10 products receiving greatest commercial support.
  • Prioritize the conversion-rate-optimization roadmap by potential business impact; approve test hypotheses and success criteria, review results, and decide whether to scale, iterate, or stop tests.
  • Guide campaign priorities and ensure landing pages and product detail pages reinforce campaign and product priorities.
  • Direct, prioritize, and support the Senior Ecommerce Specialist; set weekly priorities, resolve conflicting requests, make capacity trade-offs, and prevent uncontrolled intake.
  • Avoid taking over hands-on Shopify, quality assurance, or routine site administration unless needed temporarily for business continuity.
  • Represent the customer in direct-to-consumer decisions by connecting quantitative performance with customer behavior, needs, and friction points.
  • Ensure channel decisions improve business economics and the consumer experience.
  • Connect direct-to-consumer work across Marketing and Brand, Creative, Finance, Operations and Supply Chain, Innovation and Product, Customer Care, Information Technology and enterprise resource planning, Analytics, the agency, and other external partners.
  • Ensure direct-to-consumer operates as an integrated channel and commercial decisions reflect broader company priorities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in consumer products or consumer packaged goods is strongly preferred.
