Requirements
  • Experience as a technical artist or engineer developing and deploying tools supporting character creation, rigging, simulation, or animation pipelines in a runtime environment.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a game development studio or prior experience creating artist-facing tools on a technical art or engineering team in a production environment.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic Art, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience working with game editors and excellent knowledge of workflow technical specifications from digital content creation tools to complex real-time environments.
  • Ability to write and debug C++.
  • Excellent knowledge of Autodesk Maya, with general knowledge of Maya rigging.
  • Experience developing or maintaining project pipeline tools and system environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to creatively solve problems.
  • Experience leveraging agentic artificial intelligence models.
  • Strong understanding of deformation and mesh processing.
  • Familiarity with industry trends in character rigging, gameplay animation, cinematic animation, deformation, and simulation usage in character animation pipelines.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal team members and studio stakeholders to prototype and harden tools, considering contemporary development workflows, data management, art creation, animation, and game engine integration.
  • Set up and maintain project-specific environments and automation opportunities.
  • Learn and support varying client working environments, assets, and tools.
  • Write, maintain, and customize internal tools and workflows.
  • Build and maintain technical documentation.
  • Attend and participate in PlayStation internal demonstrations and conferences, with required travel.
  • Work in a collaborative team environment while conducting self-driven experimentation and research.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong Python programming skills and experience with PyQt or PySide.
  • Experience with MotionBuilder, Maya, and Houdini.
  • Experience with HLSL and MaterialX.
  • Experience with other programming languages, especially C++.
  • Experience with Perforce, Git, and Confluence.
  • Exposure to photogrammetry and motion capture or performance capture.
