Requirements
  • Fund management, contracts, and grants experience.
  • Demonstrated or acquired knowledge of DARPA, National Science Foundation, and other government agency contracting procedures, including proposal preparation and submission, contract reporting, and contract cost collection.
  • Ability to perform financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and contract administration, with proficiency in computer programs and tools for financial budgeting and projection, such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated technical writing and editing skills, with proficiency in appropriate text-processing applications.
  • Skill in analyzing information, defining problems or objectives, identifying relevant concerns, formulating conclusions, and proposing alternatives and solutions.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience/training.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key point of contact for the Center for Domain-Specific Computing.
  • Interpret and implement university financial policies.
  • Monitor expenditures and analyze cost reports.
  • Plan and coordinate annual reviews.
  • Monitor grants to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Participate in preparing and submitting reports, grants, overviews, and briefings.
  • Administer research grants from government and industry associated with the Center director's VLSI architecture synthesis and technology laboratory.
  • Provide administrative support to the director in their role as a professor.
  • Make travel arrangements and process reimbursements.
  • Process purchase orders for lab and office supplies using Bruin Buy Plus and Concur.
  • Process visa applications for foreign visitors.
  • Arrange hotel accommodations, catering, and audiovisual equipment.
  • Photocopy and receive and distribute packages and mail to faculty, students, and staff.
  • Coordinate meetings, seminars, and workshops as needed.
  • Prepare course evaluations each quarter.
  • Type correspondence for faculty.
  • Ensure that the professor's graduate student researchers are properly appointed and funded each quarter by submitting requests to the appropriate team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles, including UCLA's general ledger and contracting accounting systems.
  • Skill in using university online systems such as Bruin Buy Plus and Concur Travel Express.
  • Communication skills for professional interaction with government and industrial sponsors, faculty, research team members, departmental staff, graduate students, and university entities.
