Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage all field activities of company employees and subcontractors to ensure contract requirements, safety goals, budget goals, and schedule goals are met.
  • Manage self-perform work and plan, coordinate, and supervise company and subcontractor personnel on-site, including other Superintendents when required.
  • Attend turnover, planning, closeout, pre-construction, weekly project, supervisory, and other required project and company meetings.
  • Provide timely input and feedback to customers and communicate field decisions to affected parties.
  • Communicate with the design team, engineering professionals, and owner throughout the project.
  • Ensure new employee orientation and conduct subcontractor field orientations before subcontractor work begins.
  • Evaluate field personnel, conduct 30-day and annual employee evaluations, set development goals, and recognize superior performance.
  • Coach and mentor employees to support their development.
  • Submit daily field reports and weekly or daily timecards, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Plan work schedules, assist with the critical path method schedule and short-duration schedule, and prepare monthly workforce projections.
  • Determine workforce and equipment requirements and develop and update the material-handling plan.
  • Review submittal lists, delivery schedules, estimates, subcontracts, budgets, scopes of work, plans, specifications, subcontractor and vendor scopes, and shop drawings.
  • Assist Project Managers with material quantity buyout.
  • Communicate change orders to affected parties.
  • Review, approve, and cost-code material invoices; manage tool rentals; and review monthly financial forecasts with the project team.
  • Monitor cleanliness of the job site, trailers, tools, vehicles, and construction site.
  • Apply construction techniques, construction material properties, project design and engineering principles, surveying principles, construction regulations, construction law, and labor law.
  • Provide technical assistance to company personnel and subcontractors and ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare site-specific safety plans with the Safety Director and enforce company safety and loss-control programs, equal employment opportunity programs, Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules, and job-site safety procedures.
  • Coach employees and subcontractors on safe work practices; conduct or ensure weekly toolbox and safety meetings and safety audits.
  • Document safety issues and ensure corrective safety measures are implemented.
  • Maintain automated external defibrillator, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and First Aid certification.
  • Establish and maintain an on-site quality construction control program compliant with state, federal, and local agencies.
  • Participate in pre-installation meetings and ensure documentation of pre-installation, during-installation, and post-installation activities.
  • Ensure materials conform to approved submittals, plans, and specifications and pursue a zero punch-list outcome.
  • Participate in proposal presentations and interviews, groundbreaking ceremonies, ribbon cuttings, special events, and company committees.
  • Handle issues promptly and conduct improvement analyses covering the project, processes, profits, and relationships.
