Requirements
  • Work requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Completion of the patient transport safety training program within 30 days of hire for Level I.
  • Completion of the patient transport safety training program and two years of experience as a Clinical Tech Assistant I for Level II.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required for both Level I and Level II.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform the heavy lifting required to move and transport patients in wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision for Level I.
  • Patient transport safety training for Level II.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks for Level II.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with moving patients to and from radiographic tables.
  • Clean assigned work areas and equipment, stock radiographic rooms with supplies and clean linen, and dispose of soiled laundry.
  • Transport patients, including oxygen patients, to and from various hospital locations.
  • Pick up and deliver specimens, equipment, supplies, and messages as directed.
  • Assist technologists with imaging procedures, including dressing, undressing, and positioning patients.
  • Respond promptly to patient calls and check on patients according to department procedures.
  • Assist technologists with procedures and move and set up radiographic equipment in non-sterile settings.
  • Provide general patient care according to departmental procedures, address patients' emotional and physical needs, and respond promptly and courteously to patients, families, and visitors with clear and accurate information.
  • Compile, record, maintain, and file information for accurate patient and departmental records and reports; complete ticket-to-ride documentation and maintain travel logs.
  • Initiate calls and contact appropriate personnel to obtain or provide emergency services when an urgent critical situation arises.
  • Monitor the medical status of patients in Radiology.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
  • Set up and clean imaging rooms.
  • Set up instruments and equipment for specific procedures.
  • Enter patient data for radiographic studies into the computer.
  • Assist technical staff with patient preparation for interventional procedures.
  • Schedule patients for procedures as requested.
  • Assist technologists with procedures, including moving and setting up radiographic equipment in sterile settings, setting up sterile trays, and cleaning non-disposable equipment with the appropriate solution.
  • Label and wrap instruments for sterilization.
  • Assist technologists with processing images.
  • Charge procedures as directed.
  • Assist radiographic staff with completing studies by entering patient data into the computer, moving equipment, recording patient information on images, and coordinating activities with others.
  • Monitor inventory levels of supplies, order stock, and organize it to prevent loss from expiration.
  • Set up special procedure trays and equipment using sterile techniques or techniques appropriate to the setting; assist medical and technical staff with patient preparation.
  • Process images and copy film as requested.
  • Clean instruments and equipment as required.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
