Requirements
  • A Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice is required, along with certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • An active Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license and Registered Nurse license are required.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program is required.
  • National Family Nurse Practitioner certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or American Nurses Credentialing Center is required.
  • To prescribe legend drugs, the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner must have notation of approval on the license.
  • A current Drug Enforcement Administration certificate is required if the applicant is requesting privileges to prescribe controlled substances.
  • The position must obtain Basic Life Support cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification within 90 days of hire and maintain current certification throughout employment.
  • Pre-hire and annual employee health screening are required.
  • An annual influenza vaccine is required, except for an approved medical or religious exemption; employees with an approved exemption must wear a mask throughout flu season.
  • Additional education may be required for some specialty areas.
Responsibilities
  • Provide primary medical care services to Sea Mar patients in accordance with training, experience, certification, insurance, licensure, and established practice guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with staff as part of a care team to provide coordinated, comprehensive patient services.
  • Refer patients to medical specialists or other service sources when necessary.
  • Prescribe or dispense required medication according to the individual prescriptive authority granted by the Washington State Board.
  • Participate in preventive health programs, including immunization, disease detection, and disease prevention activities.
  • Provide approved education programs for patients and community groups in the service areas.
  • Participate in clinical affairs and work with administrative and clinical leadership to improve the patient care experience.
  • Provide care for special patient groups, including patients in nursing homes or other institutions when appropriate.
  • Fulfill all residency requirements detailed in the curriculum and required by the APP Residency Director.
  • Provide clinical supervision to assigned nurses and other paraprofessionals.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of and interest in Latino/Hispanic culture is needed.
