Requirements
At least 3 years of experience estimating large-scale construction projects related to high-purity process piping.
Proficiency with related estimating software such as FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble Autobid, Bluebeam, and QuickPen.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including prolonged desk sitting, lifting up to 15 pounds, climbing ladders, accessing trenches, attics, and confined spaces, communicating in noisy environments, recognizing alarms and instructions, wearing personal protective equipment, and manipulating small objects.
Responsibilities
Contact the pre-construction departments of targeted general contractors to identify opportunities.
Evaluate opportunities based on likelihood of success, alignment with the business model, competitive advantages, and planned margins.
Review plans, process and instrumentation diagrams, specifications, and contracts before preparing estimates to identify impacts on the work.
Learn and operate a computer-based takeoff and estimating system that provides reproducible results.
Coordinate drawings, scopes, and points of connection with other trades.
Prepare requests for information for projects being bid.
Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
Prepare project recaps, general conditions, schedules, and letters.
Run job reports in preparation for bid reviews with the Estimating Manager.
Assist in selling projects by developing scopes of supply, delivering presentations when required, entertaining, negotiating, and closing.
Participate in kickoff meetings by presenting the scope of work, work plan, budget, unusual requirements, and critical limitations on the scope of work.
Assist with productivity tracking of labor units.
Participate in daily staff meetings to identify scope deviations, monitor production, and forecast future work.
Assist with developing alternate recovery plans when actual project performance is not meeting the budgeted plan.
Desired Qualifications
Deep experience with semiconductor and/or biopharmaceutical construction projects.
Field, craft, or piping trade experience, or a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Understanding of adjacent piping systems such as plumbing and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.

Position Summary
The Process Piping Estimator for our Advanced Technologies division will provide and/or coordinate all estimating services necessary to procure Process Piping / Mechanical projects. Critical to this role is a focus on accuracy, thoroughness, and profitability. This position is responsible for cultivating relationships with the Estimating Departments within our targeted community of General Contractors. If you have estimating experience in industrial / commercial construction, preferably in the biopharmaceutical and/or semiconductor sectors, this may be the role for you!

Key Responsibilities
Regularly contact the Pre-Construction Departments of our targeted community of General Contractors to identify opportunities.
Evaluate opportunities to ensure we pursue projects with the best opportunity for success; are consistent with our business model; exploit our competitive advantages and can contribute margins consistent with the business plan.
Review all plans, P&ID’s, specifications, and contracts prior to preparing the estimate to ensure any impacts on the work are identified.
Learn and operate a computer based take off and estimating system that can provide reproducible results.

Prepare RFIs for projects bidding

Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must have sufficient visual acuity to read printed and digital documents.
Must be able to climb ladders, access and egress trenches and/or attic spaces and/or confined spaces.
Requires hearing ability to communicate in noisy environments.
Must be able to recognize alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
Ability to grasp, handle, and manipulate small objects.
Compensation
San Leandro: $105,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
Cypress & Chandler: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
