Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science and Master's degree in Nursing, and a PhD or doctorate equivalent in an area of specialization from an accredited institution are required.
  • Experience in teaching, including clinical practice teaching, is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and service in nursing education and practice are required.
  • Demonstrated past performance in the scholarship of nursing, including research, scientific manuscripts, grant writing, and technology, is required.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Texas is required.
Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with faculty to coordinate implementation of respective programs of study.
  • Demonstrate command of content in an area of specialization.
  • Develop classroom and clinical learning activities that facilitate learning.
  • Coordinate orientation and teaching across the curriculum for students' theory and/or clinical teaching.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate assigned course offerings, including clinical and practice courses.
  • Serve as a member of the College of Nursing Faculty Organization and collaborate with faculty on assigned university committees, task forces, and related activities.
  • Submit an annual faculty performance portfolio documenting teaching effectiveness, scholarship/research, and service.
  • Articulate a defined program of research.
  • Exhibit leadership in research to increase collaboration with nursing colleagues and other disciplines.
  • Direct and engage in research that contributes to the advancement of nursing knowledge and nursing science.
  • Disseminate scholarly work through professional publications and presentations at local or state meetings.
  • Use innovative, state-of-the-art teaching methodologies and learning activities that promote excellence in classroom and online teaching.
  • Serve as an academic advisor and research mentor to students, faculty, and communities of interest.
  • Assume a leadership role in academic programs and committee responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate leadership through increased participation in university activities and committees.
  • Participate actively in local, state, national, international nursing, and professional organizations.
