About the job
- A high school diploma, General Educational Development equivalent, or higher is required.
- A combination of teaching or training experience in the advanced manufacturing industry is required: 3–5 years for Instructor 1 or 5 or more years for Instructor 2.
- In-depth, current or recent experience as an Advanced Manufacturing Instructor or Advanced Manufacturing employee in a manufacturing setting is required, preferably in the semiconductor industry.
- Experience working closely with manufacturing companies, employers, or related recruiters for manufacturing positions is required.
- Knowledge and experience navigating the advanced manufacturing industry are required.
- Strong organization and planning skills, including the ability to manage details and maintain schedules, are required.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, email, web applications, and online meeting tools, are required.
- The ability to handle and maintain confidential information is required.
- The ability to travel to different sites within Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, including mornings and evenings, is required.
- Successful candidates must have legal residency and work eligibility in the United States.
- Successful candidates must undergo a background check.
- Employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, except as required by law or for approved accommodations.
- Update the Advanced Manufacturing curriculum with the Semi Foundation as needed and deliver it in a stimulating environment that supports multiple learning types, interpersonal skills development, and comprehension of concepts.
- Incorporate prior advanced manufacturing experience into hands-on learning activities.
- Use existing advanced manufacturing networks to invite guest speakers, arrange field trips, and identify potential employers.
- Maintain current knowledge of related state and federal requirements and modify the curriculum accordingly.
- Keep current with advanced manufacturing trends.
- Create and maintain accurate records, schedules, and course requirements regarding instructional hours and content.
- Screen and enroll cohorts.
- Monitor stipend qualifications by maintaining student attendance records and reporting promptly to accounting.
- Order supplies and updated materials needed for classwork.
- Evaluate and document trainee progress through testing, observation, and assessment of attained skills.
- Assist graduates with job placement by connecting them with potential employers in the industry.
- Collaborate with Economic Advancement Centers and the assigned employment specialist as part of job placement services.
- Teach in alignment with JobTrain’s school mission and student learning outcomes, including its vocational schooling model in which career development and instruction are embedded and collaborative.
- Maintain professional growth in advanced manufacturing expertise, instructional skills, and administrative program changes through seminars, professional organizations, and relevant professional publications.
- Advanced Manufacturing certification is preferred.
- Knowledge or experience with Industry 4.0 standards, the Industrial Internet of Things, and smart manufacturing in the 21st century is highly preferred.
- Previous experience teaching students with barriers to employment is preferred.
