Portland General Electric among top utility dividend stocks with 4.96% yield.

Portland General Electric among top utility dividend stocks with 4.96% yield. By Joel Kornblau, Editor, Energy Stock Channel, Wednesday, September 30, 2026, 7:50 AM ET Portland General Electric Co. (POR) was identified as one of the top utility dividend stocks in a recent weekly DividendRank report from Dividend Channel. The screening highlighted POR for a combination of dividend yield, valuation, and profitability metrics that compare favorably with other utility shares. At a recent share price of $44.49, Portland General Electric offered an annual dividend yield of 4.96% and traded at roughly 1.2 times book value. According to the report, that compares with an average dividend yield of 3.8% and an average price-to-book ratio of 2.3 across the utility stocks in Dividend Channel's coverage universe. In a sector where investors often weigh income stability against valuation discipline, that combination can make POR stand out on initial screening. Why POR ranked highly. The report emphasized two core factors behind Portland General Electric's placement: attractive valuation and solid profitability characteristics. That framework is particularly relevant in the utility sector, where investors often compare companies on a narrower set of fundamentals than in more cyclical industries. Regulated electric utilities are frequently assessed on: * Dividend yield relative to peers * Price-to-book value and other balance-sheet-based valuation measures * Consistency of earnings and cash generation * Dividend payment history and payout durability POR's lower price-to-book multiple versus the broader utility group suggests the market is assigning a more conservative valuation to the shares. For income-oriented equity analysis, that can matter because starting valuation affects both total return potential and the margin of safety implied by the purchase price. Dividend profile and income characteristics. Portland General Electric pays an annualized dividend of $2.205 per share through quarterly distributions. The most recent ex-dividend date cited in the report was 09/25/2026. A nearly 5% yield places the stock above the average yield referenced for the utility peer set, making the shares noteworthy for investors comparing current income opportunities across regulated power companies. Dividend yield alone, however, rarely provides a complete picture. In utility analysis, the more important question is whether the dividend is supported by a business model capable of producing relatively stable earnings over time. Because regulated utilities generally operate within state-approved rate structures and invest heavily in long-lived infrastructure, dividend sustainability is often evaluated alongside capital spending needs, allowed returns, customer growth, and balance sheet capacity. What dividend history can indicate. The DividendRank report also pointed to Portland General Electric's quarterly dividend history and favorable long-term growth trends in selected fundamental data. Reviewing a company's past dividend history can help investors judge whether management has shown a pattern of maintaining or increasing distributions across different operating environments. A strong dividend history does not guarantee future payments, but it can provide useful evidence of capital allocation priorities. For utilities in particular, long records of uninterrupted or gradually rising dividends often reflect a combination of regulated revenue visibility, disciplined financing, and management emphasis on shareholder returns. Key takeaways on POR as a utility dividend stock. * POR was named a top utility dividend stock in Dividend Channel's weekly DividendRank report. * The stock's recent yield of 4.96% exceeds the 3.8% average cited for the utility group in the report. * Its price-to-book ratio of 1.2 is below the 2.3 peer average referenced in the same screen. * The company's quarterly dividend history was highlighted as an important supporting factor. For utility stock selection, those metrics position Portland General Electric as a name that may warrant closer fundamental review, especially for investors prioritizing a combination of current yield and valuation discipline. PORTLAND GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY Navigating the future of electric transportation: PGE event puts Oregonians behind the wheel of heavy-duty electric vehicles. September 22, 2026 As the Pacific Northwest accelerates toward an electric future, Portland General Electric is hosting its first-ever Fleet Forward Electric Ride & Drive event on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Portland International Raceway to help commercial fleets navigate the shift to electric transportation. In partnership with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE), and the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO), PGE is inviting local area fleet managers, operators, maintenance professionals, and other organizations interested in exploring fleet electrification to get behind the wheel of medium- to heavy-duty electric vehicles and learn about the tools, technology and resources available to support their transition. The Fleet Forward Electric Ride & Drive is a hands-on opportunity to test-drive electric semitrucks, box trucks, and more, while learning about the latest fleet and charging technologies and connecting with industry professionals. "You have to get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle to experience it for yourself," said Karla Hendrickson, PGE transportation electrification manager. "This all-in-one event brings together the equipment, technology, and expert guidance fleets need to experience the business benefits of fleet electrification and how to get ready today for an electric future." Whether it's for businesses, municipalities, school districts, or other organizations, fleet electrification offers a return on investment through reduced fuel and maintenance costs while offering an environmentally friendly solution to one of Oregon's largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions. "Electrifying Oregon's transportation system, including commercial vehicles, is critical to reaching our clean energy goals and making the Oregon Energy Strategy a reality. The Fleet Forward Electric Ride & Drive event allows attendees to envision that future," said ODOE Director Janine Benner. "At Oregon DEQ, we've seen the enthusiasm people have across the state to reduce operating costs by transitioning their medium- and heavy-duty fleets to electric," said Oregon DEQ Air Quality Senior Transportation Policy Advisor Gerik Kransky. "We look forward to meeting fleet managers, freight operators, and Oregon-based business leaders as they test drive new zero-emissions vehicles, learn how to integrate them into their operations, and discuss DEQ's medium- and heavy-duty grants and incentives." PGE's Fleet Partner Program PGE electric transportation experts will be on hand to answer questions about its Fleet Partner Program. Through the program, PGE's team can help manage the process from beginning to end. Program participants will receive expert guidance through planning and design, end-to-end coordination to simplify the process, identifying financial incentives, site support, load and charging analysis, and infrastructure designed for future fleet growth. PJM adds utility, reliability executives to board.

PJM adds utility, reliability executives to board. VALLEY FORGE, PA - PJM Interconnection elected former utility executive Larry Bekkedahl and former North American Electric Reliability Corporation executive Charles Berardesco to three-year terms on its Board of Managers, as the regional grid operator confronts mounting reliability and transmission challenges across the U.S. power sector. PJM members also reelected current board member Margaret Loebl to an additional three-year term, the organization announced. The appointments took effect immediately following the election process conducted under PJM's FERC-approved operating agreement. Bekkedahl recently retired as senior vice president of strategy and advanced delivery at Portland General Electric and brings more than four decades of experience across utilities and transmission organizations, including roles with Bonneville Power Administration, PacifiCorp and Montana Power. Berardesco previously served as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, or NERC, where he also held interim chief executive responsibilities. "Larry and Charlie come to the Board with both regional and national perspectives in the electricity sector," PJM President and Chief Executive Officer David E. Mills stated. Their appointments come as PJM and other U.S. grid operators face growing scrutiny over electricity demand growth, transmission expansion, power plant retirements and long-term grid reliability. Loebl, who joined the PJM board in 2020, currently chairs the organization's Risk & Audit Committee. Mills credited Loebl with helping oversee changes to PJM's enterprise risk management, customer verification and credit programs during her tenure. "We're grateful to have her keen insight and experience for another term," Mills stated. Loebl previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of AgroFresh Solutions and has held finance, accounting and risk management leadership positions at multiple Fortune 500 companies. PJM operates the nation's largest electric grid, coordinating wholesale electricity markets and transmission systems across 13 states and the District of Columbia.
