Requirements
  • A minimum of 1–3 years of experience in consumer loan product collections.
  • Understanding of accounting principles, business financial statements, and tax returns.
  • Knowledge of analyzing personal tax returns, personal financial statements, and credit bureau reports.
  • Experience with credit procedures, policies, regulations, and laws, including bankruptcy and consumer law.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to function in a consumer business office environment and use standard office equipment, including a personal computer, copier, and telephone.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
Responsibilities
  • Contact credit union members regarding loans in default through phone, email, and text message.
  • Provide primary support for incoming and outgoing calls related to delinquency and loss management, including phone support for repossessions and escalated collections matters.
  • Contact members to discuss their accounts and identify reasons for delinquency.
  • Develop repayment plans, loan modifications, and other solutions to bring accounts current.
  • Restructure loans as necessary and provide members with guidance on improving their future financial outlook.
  • Provide members with information about financial education resources and tools to help them manage their finances and avoid future delinquencies.
  • Become proficient in software systems used by the Loss Mitigation team, including the core operating system, collections software, payment portals, and document retention software.
  • Document member interactions, payment agreements, and action plans in the core collection system.
  • Maintain call volume and quality standards in line with established key performance indicator goals.
  • Collaborate with internal business units and resources to support coordinated loss prevention.
  • Assist Loss Mitigation management with reviewing delinquency trends, member interactions, and recovery efforts.
  • Maintain knowledge of Default Management practices and procedures to support cross-team communication.
  • Ensure all activities comply with federal and state regulations and Credit Union policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Take ownership of actions, decisions, and results; accept feedback and demonstrate the ability and willingness to improve.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1–3 years of Credit Union consumer credit experience.
  • Knowledge of loan structuring and workout solutions.
