Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training is required.
  • The candidate must graduate from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.
  • The candidate must hold an unrestricted state license, registration, or certification in an eligible regulated jurisdiction to provide healthcare within the Athletic Trainer scope of practice.
  • The candidate must have a passing score from the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer.
  • The candidate must have a National Provider Identifier.
  • The candidate must have at least two years of relevant Athletic Trainer work experience within the last three years after Board of Certification completion.
  • The candidate must hold U.S. Citizenship.
  • The candidate must be able to pass a background check and drug screen and maintain current physical and immunizations.
  • The candidate must be able to lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 20 kilograms or 45 pounds.
  • The candidate must maintain current Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, including Automated External Defibrillator certification.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate in English orally and in writing.
  • The candidate must be able to operate a computer using Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
  • The candidate must participate in required government-based education and in-service training.
  • The candidate must complete continuing education required for Athletic Trainer license or certification renewals.
  • The candidate must maintain applicable state-board certification or licensing requirements and keep CAF documentation current.
  • The candidate must work a 40-hour workweek and/or 80 hours within a two-week period and accommodate changing schedules, training events, weekends, and work outside normal operating hours.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned units at the brigade, battalion, or company level.
  • Provide forward musculoskeletal care, early medical intervention, injury prevention, and performance optimization services in fitness centers, unit areas, outdoor and field-training environments, ranges, and the Soldier Performance Readiness Center.
  • Provide medical treatment under the supervision of a privileged government healthcare provider.
  • Observe brigade- and subordinate-level training events, including shooting ranges, obstacle courses, and combative training areas.
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive, periodized education and services program synchronized with the battalion training calendar.
  • Provide acute care, injury control, reconditioning, and performance optimization services.
  • Hike austere environments and terrain while carrying a backpack with necessary supplies on occasion.
  • Adjust services and work hours to accommodate changing brigade schedules, locations, training events, holidays, and unexpected events.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with high school, collegiate, or professional sports, military, performing arts, or occupational health.
  • Experience developing and executing environment-specific functional injury-control and health-and-well-being programs for groups of athletes.
  • Past staff administration or management experience.
