Responsibilities
  • During the internship you will be given a project to explore approaches, designs or techniques to achieve outcomes. The specific project will be defined with your interests and skillsets in mind, with possible topic areas including, but not limited to, quantum resistance, secure protocol design, and cryptographic security assessment.
  • You will receive supervision, help, advice and direction from members of the cryptography team and have access to the support of a broad range of security experts from the HP Security Lab.
  • You will be expected to learn about new areas associated with the project, to work with the team and also independently as required, and to discuss your approaches and results with the team.
  • During the internship you will be expected to write up your work and present the work to the team and the rest of the Security Lab.

Dell up 4% and HP 6% premarket as Lenovo's 43% revenue surge confirms AI demand offsetting memory costs

Dell rose 4% and HP jumped 6% in premarket trading Thursday after Lenovo reported 43% revenue growth and doubled server sales, signalling strong AI infrastructure demand despite memory cost pressures. Lenovo's Hong Kong-listed shares surged 20% to a record high. The Chinese company competes directly with HP in PCs and Dell in both PCs and AI servers. Analysts had worried that memory cost inflation would hurt PC makers, but Lenovo's results suggest AI-driven demand is offsetting component pressures. Meanwhile, Cisco fell 7% premarket despite beating revenue and earnings expectations in its fiscal fourth quarter results. The networking equipment maker's flat services revenue disappointed investors, particularly after rival Arista Networks delivered strong results in its prior quarter. Dell closed Wednesday up 10% at $485, whilst HP finished at $29, up 35% year to date.

HP offers 13.6% cash yield despite warning of margin pressure from rising costs

HP Inc. is generating a free cash flow yield of 13.6% of its market value, more than three times the 4.2% median for S&P 500 companies. The PC and printer manufacturer reported its eighth consecutive quarter of revenue growth, with $57.42 billion in annual sales. However, management warned of significant headwinds. Memory and storage costs are expected to rise through the second half of 2026, whilst the PC unit market is forecast to decline at a rate in the high teens. The company projects its Personal Systems operating margin will fall below its long-term range, with the fourth quarter marking a low point. Despite these challenges, HP maintains its full-year guidance and trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 10.9.
