Requirements
  • Previous automotive dealership sales management experience is required.
  • Strong customer relationship management experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of internet lead management.
  • Strong desking and deal-structuring skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a sales team.
  • Strong understanding of new and used vehicle operations.
  • Experience with trade appraisals and inventory management.
  • Strong closing and negotiation skills.
  • Comfort working with customer relationship management systems, dealer management systems, and dealership technology.
  • A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to multitask and stay productive in a busy dealership environment.
Responsibilities
  • Desk new and used vehicle deals.
  • Structure deals to maximize front-end and back-end profitability.
  • Monitor and manage internet leads throughout the day.
  • Ensure every lead is worked properly inside the customer relationship management system.
  • Hold salespeople accountable for customer relationship management activity, follow-up, tasks, calls, texts, emails, and appointments.
  • Monitor lead response times and customer engagement.
  • Review unsold showroom traffic and internet opportunities daily.
  • Work missed appointments, no-shows, unsold customers, and aged leads.
  • Help convert opportunities into appointments and sales.
  • Coach, train, and motivate the sales team.
  • Manage daily sales activity, appointments, follow-up, and closing performance.
  • Work closely with finance and insurance to improve overall deal profitability.
  • Appraise trades and assist with used vehicle inventory decisions.
  • Monitor inventory aging, pricing, merchandising, and turn.
  • Assist salespeople with negotiations and closing customers.
  • Monitor departmental goals, gross profit, per-vehicle revenue, volume, closing ratios, and other key performance indicators.
  • Maintain compliance with dealership and manufacturer policies.
  • Create a competitive, accountable, high-energy sales environment.
  • Review every active opportunity in the customer relationship management system.
  • Monitor lead response and follow-up.
  • Track appointments set, shown, and sold.
  • Review salesperson activity.
  • Reassign and redistribute opportunities when necessary.
  • Make manager calls and help close customers.
  • Identify opportunities that salespeople may have missed.
  • Maintain strong follow-up processes on unsold customers.
