Job Description
The Benefits Analyst is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Fortune Brands Innovations health and welfare plans. This role will also work on special projects including annual enrollment, annual audits, plan integrations and compliance activities.
Position Location: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule based in Deerfield, IL.
RESPONSIBLIITIES:
What you will be doing
- Responsible for coordinating and administering various benefit programs including but not limited to medical, dental, Rx, life and disability for active and retired associates. This would also include investigating and validating any escalated issues with the transmission of data from the HRIS system to third-party benefits vendors.
- Support the development, coordination and delivery of benefit communication materials.
- Responsible for ensuring all health and welfare related required legal notifications, testing, plan documents, filings and audits are completed accurately and timely.
- Responsible for preparation and execution of annual enrollment in partnership with the Manager of H&W Strategy & Manager of Benefits Operations, which includes:
- Participation in defining requirements, system setup and system testing
- Review of communication materials and coordination of delivering communication materials to appropriate locations
- Preparation of enrollment presentations
- Ensure transmission of files to third party vendors
- Completion of post enrollment audits
- Support benefit plan audits, including gathering, organizing and analyzing comprehensive benefit plan information
- Support implementation of new health and welfare benefit plans and/or programs as needed.
- Conduct benefit plan analysis by monitoring and analyzing experience of benefit plans and vendors. Develop reports on costs, utilization, and trends.
- Lead ERISA appeals administration, ensuring claims are processed consistently and timely
- Conduct annual enrollment educational sessions
- Gather and analyze data for annual plan renewals.
- Generate standard and ad-hoc reports
- Support wellbeing initiatives
- Provide support to associates and HR business partners on benefit inquiries
- Respond to vendor data inquiries including request for census data, plan enrollment information, plan eligibility information, etc.
- Ad-hoc projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
- 3+ years of experience in benefit administration or as an HR generalist with benefits responsibilities
- Strong HR benefit knowledge across Health & Welfare plans
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, Section 125, Workers Compensation, Medicare, Social Security and DOL requirements
- Excellent communication skills with focus on confidentiality
- Experience presenting benefits materials and leading annual enrollment meetings
- Experience handling routine and complex benefit inquiries from HR and associates
- Strong knowledge of database, report writing and HRIS systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work on various projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Strong skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Vendor management experience
- Ability to work independently
