Requirements
  • One to three years of experience in the human services field is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver's license, adequate vehicle insurance when using a personal vehicle, and a safe driving record are required.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have maintained a valid United States driver's license for at least six months, and pass a driver's screening background check.
  • Applicants must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift, operate a computer and office equipment, assist persons served with activities of daily living, and communicate with members, staff, and external representatives.
  • Applicants must be able to work occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group support to Clubhouse members through assessment and development of Action Plan goals.
  • Function as an advisor for Clubhouse members by assessing, developing, and implementing Action Plans in members' chosen work areas.
  • Promote a supportive and empowering services environment in which members advocate for themselves, make choices, take risks, and assume additional responsibilities.
  • Communicate and reinforce the Clubhouse culture and philosophy with members, providers, community resources, and employer partners.
  • Develop, implement, and support Clubhouse policies and procedures in partnership with members and staff.
  • Link members to community services and resources.
  • Provide support across all Clubhouse work areas by teaching, coaching, facilitating, modeling, and reinforcing skill development.
  • Provide meaningful work opportunities and encourage member participation in work area activities.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of work area services when assigned.
  • Maintain member program records according to Massachusetts Department of Mental Health Clubhouse documentation standards.
  • Support members in documenting progress on their Action Plans when they choose to do so.
  • Attend trainings, conferences, staff meetings, supervision, and professional-development activities.
  • Assist with orientation of new staff and members and maintain communication with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Help maintain the physical site and participate in Clubhouse events.
  • Follow Clubhouse, divisional, and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide coverage and assistance for Clubhouse work units, on-site and off-site activities, daily program requirements, and general upkeep and maintenance.
  • For Education staff, create assessment tools, develop curricula, use online courses and teaching tools, train and supervise tutors, conduct classes, coordinate educational opportunities, establish college and university affiliations, and promote peer leadership.
  • For Intake, Outreach, and Housing staff, manage the work area, guide and supervise area staff and members, coordinate orientation, outreach, and housing efforts, conduct intake and initial assessments, monitor Action Plan completion, report Action Plan data, and serve as a resource for members, families, providers, public officials, and community contacts.

  • Advanced training, experience, or professional credentials for Clubhouse Counselor II positions.
  • A Bachelor's degree in psychology, rehabilitation counseling, special education, or a related field.
